One armed push ups

I wish I could do a 1 arm pushup... Im at abou 40 pushups in a row which is okay I guess and nowhere near doing a one arm pushup

It's been a long time since I did pushups to failure, but at one point I could crank out about 75 or more and could do at least 5 one-arm pushups on each side. One-armed ones are different though, and if you want to be able to do them, I think it would be better to just practice them rather than waiting till you can do a certain number of 2-armed ones before trying.

Either way, good luck!

some people have harder to do one armed pushups than others:p its about balance too.. and i one armed requires more max str than pusups:p so if u can do 100 regular pushups its not sure u can do 1 one armed.. while some guy only doing 30 regular might be able to do 1 one armed:p who knows?:p

i havent ever conciously trained for the one armed push ups
but a little experimentation and i found a good way to get to one arm push up

now i only tried this once for one rep so i cant be sure this works but seem intense
so here goes
you start in the kneeling pushup-with one arm
now while you go into a one arm position the greatest problem i face is to balance the non working shoulder so you put a small block(about 20 to 25 cms in height) at the side of your hips. Place your non working arm lightly on the block and start one arm push ups (use the block only so much as to keep your balance)

putting the arms on the block takes away some of the pressure of stabilisers thereby giving a degree of balance. Also assuming that the non working arm is placed behind the back it only seems specific to keep the block near the hips.

not as hard as standard one arms, but still quite a killer even in the kneeling position. you can possibly advance to doing the same in the standard position or on just one knee.
hope it is helpfull to all:)

Thanks every1 for the advice ive gotten to the point where i can basicly do a one armed push up with my right arm and my left arm is a little slopier so i hope to have them both down by the end of the summer. Have a good summer every1

I can do it more or less, but I need to spread my legs in order to keep the balance. Also I think it probably looks quite weird when I do it! :D

I can do about 80 regular pushups, but one arm is SOLID!
