Omg Help Fast!

Ok...today i lifted and got home and went upstairs to take my creatine/protien. I went up there and noticed they were both gone. My dad didnt no i was taking it cause i didnt tell him cause he is WAY against it but my mom knows and shes doesnt mine. My dad thinks its a health hazard and i think he is to old fashoioned and thinks its like steroids or something. He also thinks i can get in trouble from highschool/ncaa for talking creatine cause they can track it when i play at college. Can AANY of you guys post a defence against this? saying its an all natural supplement and saying there isnt any health risks.! !! Thats the only way my dad will change his mind...Im very ticked because its really helped alot and i dont want to abruptly end my creatine cycle because my body i think has become dependent on it. I will print this forum out for my dad if i get replys....i really want him to understand that its not a life threatning supplement and its 100% natural. ...list both good and bad effects if u have the time.. I know you can say use the search button but i think this will persuade him more.

By no means is creatine a steroid, it is a supplement.

Supplement means that it is something added. Creatine is made in your liver and comes from various foods..fish, meat, etc.

However, you should not be dependent on it. Also, you should not be taking it if you are too young and inexperienced, I've seen people who are just starting to lift and immediately take creatine, one should try lifting without supplements first.

An excellent link, that describes pretty much everything about creatine in simple terms is here.

Ive read that when you take creatine you shouldnt cut back abruptly because your body becomes dependent on it and you should minimize your intake tell you stop taking it. And yess i am experienced at lifting...im almost 18 and have lifted heavily the past three years since freshman year...and i started taking creatine because i couldnt make any gains at all once i hit a ccertain point

all thats needed is 3-5 grams a day. so its just a matter of taking it or not taking it, no need to slowly cut back.

even for those who load. after loading, its recommended to only take 5 grams a day.

I wasn't saying you weren't inexperienced, I read your stats at the bottom there, that was suppose to help because youve been lifting.

Personally, I think it's better to cycle it rather than take it all of the time.

You're not allowed creatine in some college sports, so he has a point.

Thats soo retarded. Its 100% natural isnt it? Thats like saying you can only eat 1 red meat a day. I dont see anything wrong with it and i dont think my dad should been having a problem with me taking it! He wants a written note from my head coach and weightlifting advisor saying its ok. That will be embarrasing seeing as 1/2 of my team uses it. And he keeps pressuring me to get in the weightroom and get grades up and go to more combines. He should be all for this!.....its makes me stronger which = for sure starting position = being recongnized = better college = happy dad

If half your team uses it, I am sure you coach won't mind giving you a note stating that it is safe. Why would it be embarrasing to ask for a note? I don't get it. Will he make you ask for the note in front of the whole team? Surely he has some discretion. Seems like a simple solution to me.

At least your dad cares enough about to worry about your health. Get the note and show your dad, you'll understand when you get older.

Yup, I'm with Tony and the rest...get the note, it's only because your dad cares. I seriously doubt anyone will make fun of you for having to get a note from your parents and I'm sure teh coach won't mind.

Here's a study used on children that used whey protein
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/..._uids=16002812&query_hl=2&itool=pubmed_docsum

Here's a study that says that WPI (whey protein isolate) helps boost protective measures of hte protstate cells. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/..._uids=12537959&query_hl=2&itool=pubmed_docsum

Here's a study that favors whey use on infants for amino acid purposes, etc etc
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/..._uids=12352513&query_hl=2&itool=pubmed_docsum

And, finally, here's an article by Dr. John Berardi about the effects of protein on teens and adolescents. http://www.johnberardi.com/articles/nutrition/dear.htm

As far as creatine goes...it's an amino acid. It's not a steroid.
However, I'll let you find your own studies on creatine. Go to www.pubmed.com or www.medline.com and use the search. and, by the way, if you dad is anything like mine...he'd rather see you find studies than look on a public forum for opinions.

I think you would only get more respect from people if you gained strength w/o creatine, and I think you're putting too much on this creatine.. It's not a miracle supplement, some don't even notice a difference..
