Omega-3 help

I take seal oil capsules daily as there are heart problems, arthritis and depression in my family. I was wondering how many I should be taking daily. I am an active girl and I weigh around 150 lbs. Any help is appreciated.

I was wondering the same thing. Fish oil provides EPA & DHA, but how much do we need daily? Does it depend on training regimen, age, weight? Or is it a one size fits all type of deal. I see some oils that are 200mg of EPA and DHA combined, and Ive seen some that are 900mg. Thanks in advance.

*EDIT*
This is what I found on the American Heart Association website:

Summary of Recommendations for Omega-3 Fatty Acid Intake

Population and Recommendation
Patients without documented coronary heart disease (CHD) - Eat a variety of (preferably fatty) fish at least twice a week. Include oils and foods rich in alpha-linolenic acid (flaxseed, conola and soybean oils; flaxseed and walnuts).

Patients with documented CHD - Consume about 1 g of EPA+DHA per day preferably from fatty fish. EPA+DHA in capsule form could be considered in consultation with the physician.

Patients who need to lower triglycerides - 2 to 4 grams of EPA+DHA per day provided as capsules under a physician’s care.

Patients taking more than 3 grams of omega-3 fatty acids from capsules should do so only under a physician’s care. High intakes could cause excessive bleeding in some people.

Are you following your doctor's advice by taking Omega-3 tablets? Probably not cause otherwise you would know how many capsules to take. Listen don't panic, whenever a study shows even a small hint of something that can be exploited the pharmacological industries are on to them like hawks. Ok, you have a history in your family of heart problems, arthritis and depression. Exercise is a good capsule against all those things unless the problems are genetic. What does that mean is, if you don't suffer from heart problems, arthritis and depression now, exercise will help minimise the odds of them happening to you. Just make sure you have a good healthy diet, a good exercise plan (helps with mood swings) and a good multivitamin that you can take daily, one that includes the RDA for vitamins minerals and....omega-3s. Take care and don't get obsessed with these things. Enjoy your life :D
