Where should I be going if I wanna meet a real cowboy???

Being a British girl we don't have them over here... and well... I'ts been a fantasy of mine to meet a 'real cowboy...' to see if they are like they are in the movies??

I said don't laugh!! :D

In my experience, Texas contains no real cowboys, contrary to popular belief. Less one wants to prove me wrong? =P
 
We still have cowboys around here. They wear cowboy hats, cowboy boots, jeans, ride horses 24/7 and work on ranches. They're pretty tough dudes. I don't know that I'd want one, though.

However, if you mean "cowboys" like what you see in the movies, that doesn't really exist.

I dunno... maybe its the whole tight jeans, massive belt, the massive hat and the knoweldge that they gotta be pretty strong... hmmm.. ah... yes... well... okay took that thought a little too far! haha
 
Canada is a very big country. If you're serious about meeting a cowboy, the only place you'll find them is in southern Alberta and southeastern BC.

If you can get to Las Vegas before Dec 13th .. the place is crawling with them! ....GOOGLE NFR or NFRprorodeo.com The National Rodeo Finals are going on right now and quite a few of the fans are real cowboys.... My parents retired from ranching and they go almost every year. I went with them in 2001 and I saw some fine looking "wrangler butts." As point of trivia the largest privately owned cattle ranch in the United States was for many years in OREGON.--not Texas. It was the MC Ranch-- however it was sold in the 80's.

From my expirence with cowboys, its hit or miss...some are really nerdy (if that makes sense) and others are pretty tough dudes...my great uncle used to be a cowboy, and still lives with some of their ways...he grows his own food, and lives in a small simple home...his son is a cowboy, but I haven't really interacted with him...

I think its the same with everything though... Like... Football supporters in England... You get the good ones and then you get the bad ones... but everyone thinks that English footie supporters are all bad coz of the media!

All I can think about when you say Football supporters is Vinnie Jones in Eurotrip!! Hope you have seen it... pretty funny portrayal of "football hooligans"!

Oklahoma is actually on my places I wanna go list. :D I have two... one list for countries I wanna visit and then another for the places in the USA I wanna visit. :D And the second one seems to be getting quite long...

The only problem for us Brits is that you Americans (understandably) don't like to let us into your country for long periods of time... So my plan of just getting a bar job somewhere and moving from place to place wont really work out. haha
 
I just got infatuated with a Northern California man--and thought of this thread. I wish you could hear the accent from up there--not a Southern drawl, but seriously melodious, soft, deep and sexy is the sound that comes from the mouths of NorCal boys--and as you go further south it gets loud and nasally, ugh!
