Weight-Loss October 1 Month Challenge?

Hey everyone,

Not quite sure how "The Club" works with newbies starting challenges, but I thought I'd throw it out there. It's almost the end of the month and October is starting this Sunday. Is anyone interested in a 1 month October challenge? I see a lot of times things are divided into teams. We could do that, or do an individual free-for-all. I'm not picky, I just want a couple of friends to check in with so we can motivate each other to keep working and eating healthy. So what do you think? Any takers?:D
 
hey... ill join in! I have a month to loose as much as possible before i go and visit a friend of mine in Derby in novemeber. I want to impress her housemate. hehe

OK everybody, well since we haven't had dozens of people sign up for this one, let's go individually... That is unless by Sunday we have more than 12 people, then we'll divide up into groups.

Get everything in order and on SUNDAY, let's all post our starting weights and our goal weights, a brief description of nutrition and exercise plan, and plan on checking in once a week. We'll announce winners November 1st... any suggestions for prize/accolades for the winner(s)?

great idea!

This is such a great idea :) having a support group will definitely help cos now everyone will know if i slack off :p will post my goals and everything on sunday! I'm definitely in!
 
So far we have 9 including me. If we don't get to 12 we could do one of two things

1)individual challenge with group support

OR

2)break up into 3 teams of 3

It's up to y'all. If we get 12+, I'll go ahead and break us up anyway. Just want to let everyone know, too, that after reading through a bunch of journals I kept coming across a supplemental site to this one (sparkpeople), and I went to it and I'm hooked! I think the message boards are better here, but the resources are soooo helpful. Just throwing that out there in case someone needs a calorie counter or exercise tracker.
 
I want to join. My motivation has been non-existent since August. I haven't gained anything but haven't lost....so frustrating. I really want to get back on track!!
 
I'm in. I'll be back late Sunday, so will try to check in then for rules and regs. :p

Is it strictly a weight loss challenge for October, or can there also be a challenge to make small changes to diet/exercise? May have to be individual, maybe each person has several small goals they post on Sunday?

ex: How about a fruit/veggie goal per day? eat ___ servings. Just a thought - that's one thing I need to work on.

I just joined sparkpeople too, and look forward to using it to track my calories.

I would love to join. I was eating very healthy for a year or so, lost 60 lbs and a couple months ago started eating not so healthy again. I am excersizing/running just as much but need to lose 20 more lbs. I am 5'8" and 165...would love to be 145. Its interesting that one week of eating just a little bit of unhealthy food can lead to months of eating unhealthy food. I need to get back on track.
 
Count me in!! Im just getting done with my 6 week challange. My final weigh in is on monday. So...this one will be perfect :) I think teams is a better idea. I found with the 6 week challange that we started out with like 20 people...and now by the end theres only about 4 of us actually reporting weights :( I hope this one is better!
 
Count me in to I love challanges and I think I can keep up with another1
, so basically weigh ins are on Friday(which I do already) cool?

I'm in too! I'm also in a longer challenge called Under the Christmas tree, that starts on monday but thats a 3 month challenge and i was already making a personal goal for October so I'm glad theres a group that i can check in with now to keep me on track!
 
im in, im in the halloween challange too, this would be even more motivation, awesome, thanks, great idea!
