Sport Oats in Shakes

How?

I tried it mixing oats with whey protein in the blender but the oats didn't really "blend."

Do you have to grind them first? Since I don't have a grinder, any other suggestions? Cook them first?

Yeah, you kinda need a grinder. I just use a coffee bean grinder that I got from Wally World for cheap...

I think cooking it, then mixing with whey would be gross, but hey, only one way for you to find out.

You could go old school and get a mortar and pestle, put in some good ol elbow grease work.

Please tell us how that tasted and if the grinder worked well. This is my first time to hear about putting oats into my shake. I just take it as my breakfast with cinnamon and fruit. I guess there won't be much of a difference since they're going to the same place. lol

I have it every morning for breakfast in the summer. i add 2 cups cooked oats, 1 serving protein powder, 1 cup milk, 1 cup water, 1 cup yogurt, and depending on my calorie manipulation for the day some berries or a banana. the oats blend well and its like a thick shake. add ice instead of water if you want. Its a 500 calorie breakfast that takes 1 minute to make.

So you CAN cook 'em...I knew it! I'll try it tomorrow morning. Here's my recipe:

40g whey protein
1 medium banana
1/2 cup oats (measured dry), cooked
1 tbsp. natural peanut butter
1 tbsp. honey
Water and ice

I'll let y'all know how it tastes...

I tried it this morning...

To be honest, I could hardly taste the oats. Nothing funky or surprising to note.

As I was drinking my shake, I got to thinking... Wait, I already cooked my oats. In a bowl. Why don't I just eat them out of the bowl like normal?

I'll probably just stick to the normal oats + 1/2 tbsp honey combo (in a bowl).

well... unless your in some antarctic country ITS HOT OUTSIDE!!! i love my oats hot in the fall and winter, but id rather not sweat over a big bowl of oats first thing in the morning on a hot summer day. But thats just me.

Told ya man, should just get a grinder, grind them ****s up, add them to your list of ingredients...they are nice and chewy, not lumpy and sick as I would imagine they tasted in yours. Let your stomach do the "cooking". :D

dunno my shakes dont get lumpy. and the farts are a bonus especially if you share them with friends:yelrotflmao:
