Sport oats for breakfast?

Sport Fitness
I've noticed that a lot of people suggest OATS for breakfast. Does it require any cooking and how do you usually eat them?
I've recently bought some KASHI go lean crunch, will that suffice instead of oats?

Kashi cereal s are good, they still have sugars though, but still if you are going to eat a ceral its a good one to eat.

As far as oats go, just get the two minute kind. I Personally like my oats as more of a paste so i add very little liquid and a tbsp of Natrual peanut butter. I have a protein shake on the side as well. This is a 1/2 cup amount of oats by the way. Its really good and fills you like crazy.

i nearly bought some of that tonight (Kashi), but i didnt. Dont know why.

Its meant to be good stuff; oats are brilliant also and i like to mix them either with peanut butter or a banana.

Whats the Kashi like?

Not to be a prick/knowitall theleip, but instant oats are nowhere near as good for you as regular oats. The reason you can cook them so fast is because they are precooked, and unfortunately robbed of many nutrients.

If you want to have oats, I would recommend getting yourself some real oats, cooking them, and then adding a bit of protein powder (you want a good hit of protein in your first meal).
Dont cook the protein in the oats though, it will denature.. Just cook the oats and then add in some vanilla whey protein or something like that. Tastes great, and is really healthy! :D

i dont know about the US but in the UK Quakers sell 'Oats So Simple'.

They come in a portioned packet and the packet is also the amount of milk you need. Its exactly the same stuff as when you buy it in a big box, just a little more ground for convenience.

Although, to be honest they're not quite big enough so i 'borrow' some extra oats from someone else. I hate not being full at breakfast.

I agree that regular oats are better, i myself use those, however i just got the vibe of ease and while instant isn't as good, its still better than a sugared cereal.

Amen to that.. most cereals are loaded with sugar and empty cals.

I use scottish oats. It takes about 10 mins to cook them. I cook them with vanilla soymilk which helps to sweetened them a bit. I also add some fruit and flax or hemp oil.

I never thought to put peanut butter in my oats. I'll have to try that. Do you put the PB in as you cook or add at the end?

while on the topic on oats how do u guys eat ur owns? i eat quakers oatmeal the one where u stick in the microwave for 3 mins but i find it a bit blann so i like to add some banna slices in it, any other ideas?

I boil real oats and then add some whey protein powder and Udo's afterwards to balance the meal out.

Or I grind it up and mix it in with a protein shake.

-Natural Peanut Butter
-Cinnimon and splenda ( i mean dont go over board but a tad wont hurt)
-vanilla extract and almonds
-rasians
-berries
-natural applesauce and cinnimon

Vary it up try some different things

I use 1 scoop of 100% whey, which equals 23 grams of protein.

Udo's is a mixture of various high quality EFA's. Its a great source of omega 3 and 6. If you are not already using something like flax seen oil to get your EFAs I would suggest you get Udo's Oil. You can mix it in with shakes or certain foods to reach your daily fat ratio.
