Sport Oatmeal or Cream of Wheat?

Sport Fitness
I've been hearing alot of people talk about eating oatmeal in the morning for breakfast. I really don't like oatmeal, but I love cream of wheat. Is this a ok subsitute, or should I find something else?

Also, is it ok to use splenda ( sugar subsitute)?

Oatmeal is probably the better option but if you hate it that bad I guess you could use cream of wheat. Splenda is ok to use as well. You could try mixing in sugar free jelly. It may make the oatmeal go down easier.

yes ,splenda is ok. and oatmeal is better. have you tried old fashioned oats or steel cut oats? they do cook up better...less 'paste like' than 'instant or quick' oats.

I put splenda, cinnamon, and a tablespoon of chunky peanut butter in oatmeal to make it taste awesome. (natty PB of course)

I agree oatmeal is better. However, if one were to look at the ingredients of Malt-O-Meal (a like product), its practically all wheat farina, and has a good source of complex carbs. Therefore this is fine to consume.

When it comes to sweetners one has to make a choice among a relatively "bad choice set", and this bad choice set is: Refined Sugar V Sweetners, and make the best choice among this bad choice set.

I dont think there is one that will argue for the use of refined white sugar (within the training and dieting spectrum), but you probably will get some pro and con responses on sweetners.

When training and dieting to lose fat tissue, with this in mind then, Splenda is the better alternative in the choice set presented. It has a variety of uses and with most uses zero in calories, and in this sense, has no impact on your diet and training goals, but will provide you with the sweetness you desire and could curb some sweetness cravings.

I wish you the best of luck in all that you do.

Best wishes,

Chillen

I mix vanilla (and sometimes raspberry if that's what I have) protein powder with my oatmeal. It makes it sweeter although that isn't why I do it. It makes it a little thicker but it tastes pretty good.
