Sport Nuts!!!

Sport Fitness
Hi all

I want to introduce some nuts in my diet as they (I believe) are a good source of protein.

I was thinking of adding them with some raisns as a mid afternoon snack as part of my 5/6 meals a day but cashew nuts for example are high in calories!

Anyone got any suggestions??

Are you restricting your calories then? What's your daily calorie allowance?

I think all nuts are calorie dense due to the fat content so not sure if there are many ways of avoiding that if you want to eat them

Ok then I'll just include them in my calorie count for the day...Thanks Typhon.

ok.. found this site that lists out the different nuts along with their calorie counts per serving:

And this site gives you 1 guy's opinion on what he considers a good healthy blend of nuts that are low in saturated fats and higher in fiber.

Both of these sites should help a bit.

Happy crunching!!

nuts are not a 'good source of protein' they are a 'good source of healthy fats' assuming you're eating un-roasted, un-salted nuts.

yeah, they have some protein, but its not complete protein, and most of their calories are from fats.

What malkore said (again). Still, I recommend eating about 4 oz. per day. Ya need healthy fats.
