no not the nuts you pervs are thinking about. LOL! i'm talking about cashews. haha! anyway, hubby said he broke a cashew in half at work today before he ate it and it had like a little caccoon in it! WTF! is that possible?? so now he doesn't want them anymore and that kind of grossed me out! i used to eat almonds, but one time i was chewing one and it was all furry feeling and then it kind of made my tongue numb and had a nasty taste, so i may have eaten a freakin BUG! disgusting! anyway, anyone else having these issues with nuts...haha?? i guess maybe a little added protein isn't so bad...LOL!

EWWWW! I never had that happen! I never bite them in half either, I just put the whole nut in!

This conversation might get interesting. Hmm.

ok, don't kill the messenger...but.....

I had heard long ago, that you shouldn't put nuts in the fridge, because worms can lay their larvae in nuts and in the right conditions....well I don't think I need to go on.....

I've heard of it in many different nuts, but have not had the experience first hand....other than breaking open a few pistachios.... but that is pretty common.....and no, I didn't eat them :)

oh that is so gross! thankfully we do not refrigerate them! thankfully we also buy them roasted. hubby said this one looked like a roasted caccoon so it wasn't living, it was dried up. oh god, i think i'm going to vomit just thinking about it....LOL! that sucks and i actually really like cashews. now i have to think of something to replace them with. any suggestions?

If you're that adamant about replacing them, any other nut will do - almonds, peanuts, macadmia, or even sunflower or pumpkin seeds.

it is quite dissapointing to see all the girls are not only refusing to eat the nuts, but they are also getting less protein.

For those of us that keep our nuts clean, I assure you they are safe, and every once in awhile you may even get a lil extra protein!

SO please ladies, stay with the nuts for at least a lil while, pleeeeeeeeeez

yeah i hear ya. i had a nasty almond once too though...LOL! maybe i'll just get over it and continue to eat them. since i didn't see the caccoon, maybe it won't be as bad for me to continue eating them, but hubby isn't going to eat the cashews for a while...LOL!

well There really is no point, it happens in *all* nuts, so none are better than any other...:action2: Just eat the one you like best....it's not really common to find that... let it go.....lol :D

tis true! i'll continue eating them and hopefully hubby will too.

Bugs are protein.

Honestly, if you didn't think you weren't already eating bugs and feces, you're in for a shock.

People eat spiders in their sleep. We eat and drink tons of unhatched eggs of various pests. Peanut butter is allowed to have a certain parts per million of BOTH rat hair and rat feces. Its a safe "won't make you sick" amount, but its still rat ****.

So, a cocoon in a cashew doesn't surprise me.
