Sport Nutrition app

We are two boys studying computer science at the university of Aarhus in Denmark. We are currently working on a project where we would like to develope an app for smartphones. Our idea at the moment is to create a tool which can aid people in keeping an eye on how much of the different nutrients they consume everyday, mainly carbohydrates, fats and proteins. I'm sure this idea has already been made an reality in several different forms, but we aim to do it better than what has already been done.

We have a pretty clear idea of how we want to implement this idea in reality, but would very much like to hear what people, like you people who care a lot about their own healths would want from such an app.

As your good ideas start flowing in We'll probably add some follow up questions.

There are other aps out there so unless you offer something different or better you may struggle.

Some of the problems:

Creating a big enough database of foods for the app to work
Taking into account the foods of different countries, portion sizes etc
The accuracy, or lack of, in food labelling
The difference in calories between cooked and raw food of the same type
Indicating the quality of calories as well as the number
