Well I'm having my tonsils out April 2nd, along with a septum repair. I won't be able to eat solid food for a few weeks. I know... some people can eat the same day or soon afterwards, but I'm going for "worst case scenario" because I know that I don't deal well with throat pain. Hence the reason I'm having them taken out. I get tonsillitis or strep throat once every 2-3 months.
Anyway... I need to ingest something to keep me healthy. I am told not to drink milk products like Boost or Ensure because they will produce mucus and I will choke on that, causing more pain. I thought about "Boost Breeze" -- a fruity drink with lots of vitamins. Not very many calories though, 160 per cup. I can't live off that. I will add some vegetable juice too.
Any other ideas? Soft/pureed food, near liquid consistency...healthy soup recipes, etc. I've "fattened up" a bit for this procedure because I am expected to lose anywhere from 10-20 pounds.. (mostly water loss, but I will essentially be starving if I can't eat anything). To remind you, I am 30 years old, 5' 6" and currently weigh around 116-118 pounds. I normally weigh about 110-112, and that is where I'd like to be when I am healthy again. Any other suggestions to not become emaciated would be appreciated.
