Sport Nut Clarification?

Sport Fitness
I'm trying to lose weight still and want to incorporate nuts into my diet as they are healthy. Previously, I was just eating almonds but these are boring I love all types of nuts and need variety.

Planter's has a new type of nut they are marketing as healthy. here is the info let me know if thats good.

Now these planter's nuts are low in salt but they still taste salty and delicious.

I'm not sure what nuts to buy I also can buy All natural Aurora mized nuts that are roasted but not salted. The nutritional value is pretty simalar except only 5 sodium for the Aurora compared to 50 of planters.

Also, what is the amount of mixed nuts I should be consuming daily.

Furthermore, should I not be eating mixed nuts and go get raw almonds instead. Hands down the planters nuts taste a lot better than the Aurora natural nuts. I bought a container of each at the same time, both cost 5.99. To be honest the planters are all gone and I havn't touched the Aurora that much. Is salt really a concern if I drink enough water? Or will I retain to much water to lose weight?

Also, If i'm eating a peanut butter sandwich. Low sodium all natural organic peanut butter on wheat bread should I skip my mixed nut intake? Or can I combine both or will it just be too much good fat for 1 day.

It is also important to note I have 1 tablespoon of flaxseed oil per day in my pwo shake so would this extra healthy fat be too much. I believed the flaxseed oil is 16grams of fat per tablespoon.

Thanks for the advice. Sorrry about the long post, but these nut matters need definitive clarification.

Basic walnuts and almonds are the way to go, the most good fats. Mixed nuts will have too much sodium, peanuts aren't as good for fats as walnuts and almonds.

You most definitely should not be having any form of fat in a pwo shake as fat slows the absorption process. Take that out.

Yup, walnuts, almonds and hazelnuts are the 3 best nuts you can have. I used to worry alot about salt intake but I think that's a lot more about trial and error. I know how much salt I can handle now and how much will make me bloated and retain water.

More important than anything about the nuts is to eat them RAW! Buy them in the shell if you can since that will preserve their essential fatty acids. When they are roasted their omega-3's are destroyed and are no longer the good things for our bodies that they once were.

^ they pretty much cover it.

Just make sure at least 20% of your daily diet comes from fats and make less than 10% from saturated fats.

I see nothing wrong with the Planters 'Nut-rition' stuff. its better than full salt, dry roasted, sugar coated, chocolate covered, or smoked nuts.

Since his answer has been covered, I just wanted to keep the discussion going with a Q. I understand that certain nuts are better than others, but for me, some nuts just aren't possible. Walnuts are completely disgusting, almonds and hazelnuts are OK, but not a fan. Peanuts, I love, I have natural peanut butter every single day. Am I really sacrificing quality of fats, or is the natty PB still pretty damn good for me?

natty peanut butter is ok. almond butter is better, but we're talking about maybe 1g difference.

your fatty acid supplementation should come from BOTH nuts and fish oil caps. as long as you're doing that, you're on the right path.

remember, some people, like myself, can be REALLY strict and anal retentive about the specific difference in nutrition between a peanut and an almond.
but that doesn't mean that the almond is significantly better than the peanut :)

OK, good enough for me. I get a serving of peanut butter every evening, and I get 4-6 grams of fish oil a day. It seems to be pretty good for my body, I've been steadily losing fat, still busting out in the weightroom...
