I am a mother of a 7 year old and a 3 month old. I was 135 before I started having kids and now I am 198. About a year before I had my second child I was 190 and I joined LA Weight Loss and I was down to 165 in about 3 months without exercise. So now I have just started working out after baby number 2. I am trying to work out twice a day 30min in the morning and 30 min at night. Now I know that some days I can only do the 30 min in the morning because I have to do other things at night with the kids. I am watching what I eat, and I wanted to do the South Beach diet starting next month. I am wondering am I doing enough? Is it good to exercise twice a day? I am doing cardio and strength training. When should I start seeing results? I have a friend who went from a size 10 to a size 6 in about 3 months becasue she worked out twice a day ( cardio and strength training) and she said she did it with out dieting. I just want to know am I on the right track. I always start something but never finish. I have been getting negative comments from my family about my weight. Everyone around me is nice and fit except me. I wish it would happen over night, but I know it takes time. Just about how much time???????????????

Welcome to the site!

I don't think there is anything wrong with working out twice a day. My main concern would be am I going to keep it up? If all you do to lose weight is work out, it would seem like if you stopped you would gain all the weight back. I'm no expert....I'm just thinking out loud.

Welcome to the forum. Good Luck.

You are deifnitely doing enough. Remember that after a certain point, you could go overboard. I worked out 30min once a day and it was fine. I'm starting at 198 too and going for 135 too (coincidence...?).

Everyone loses differently. I get jealous thinking of how some people were lucky enough to start losing right away, meanwhile it took my body a whole month to realise that it was time to let go of the excess baggage...

Focus on yourself, and yourself alone.

Don't worry about giving up. You have come so far. A lazy person would have given up ages ago. You are not a quitter, so keep on going girlfriend!

Thank You For The Advice

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE REPLIES. I AM GOING TO TRY THE SOUTH BEACH DIET IN ABOUT 2 WEEKS. I GUESS ALSO i HAVE TO MAKE A LIFE LONG DECISION TO EXERCISE REGULARLY EVEN AFTER I LOSS THE WEIGHT. I ALSO WISH THAT THE WEIGHT WILL JUST FALL OFF, BUT I WILL JUST GO WITH THE FLOW I GUESS.

Well, healthy weight loss that you can maintain for a lifetime generally comes at a rate of about 1 to 2 pounds per week. Really heavy people tend to lose more than that at first, and lighter people might lose less. If you averaged 1.5 pounds per week, it would take you approximately 42 weeks to reach your goal weight. That is about the same amount of time it would take to have a baby!

In the grand scheme of things, that is not such a very long time. If you start now, you should reach your goal by about the end of April. Be patient, work hard, and make changes you can live with forever. Then you will see success that will stick with you for a lifetime. :)
