Nothing seems to be working!

I just signed up for this forum a couple mins ago so I'll start out with a "Hello!" to everyone!

Anyway, I'm at work and not really supposed to be browsing the net or else I'd look thru all the posts.... BUT, I'm 5'3" about 133 lbs. I don't think I'm over weight (I mean, I can fit into a size 4?) but I definitely have fat to lose. I've been working with a trainer since mid april (it's at his house, alot of stability and resistance types of workouts) and I joined a gym for days that I don't see him and use the eliptical and work on my strength with stability equipment there too.

I just feel like I really should be losing at a faster rate than I am and it's so frustrating! I went from eating junk food and not working out, to completely changing my eating habits and exercising atleast 4 times a week. I usually try to stick to 1,200 calories, maybe more (like 1,500) on days that I work out. It's just getting so frustrating. I feel like I'm doing everything that I'm supposed to be doing!

I'm in a wedding in 2 weeks and I wanted to have lost 10 lbs since I started "watching" but I don't think I'll get there. I drink on the weekend but I try to still stick to my 1200 calories with the drinks (I drink vodka and water so it's not like I'm choosing fruity high calorie drinks). does anyone have ANY suggestions to maybe kick start this....or am I just being impatient? I would think after 7-8 weeks I would feel great! Am I maybe not eating enough calories? I just don't get it...probably never will! haha! I'd appreciate any suggestions, thank you!

how are you keeping track of your calories and are you sure you're eating as little as you think you are.. portion sizes can be deceiving.

Vodka still has calories... 1 jigger has about 100 calories.. and it's rare a bar will stick with 1 jigger in a pour - -so if you're having more than one -that can easily pack on the calories.. undoing a lot of the work you're doing during the week.

That's a function of how you carry your weight, I think. I'm 5'4" and 125 or so, and wear a 6 or an 8, depending on the cut.

Maintenance calories for you is probably about 1500-1600 a day (per ), so assuming that your increased calories on workout days balance out your calories burned working out (which may not be the case - exercise doesn't burn a lot of calories), you've got maybe a 350-calorie per day deficit. So 10 days to lose a pound of fat. By my math, you should be down 5-6 pounds since mid-April, not counting random water weight fluctuation.

I vote impatient. I most certainly do not vote "eating too few calories."

What they said ^ And, The closer you are to your ideal weight, the harder it is to loose. If you are really trying to lose in the next 2 weeks cut out the vodka 100 % for now.

I am 5'3" and would love to be at 133!

I wonder if with your new routine you will find that you are going to slim down by toning up (with the exercise.) You might not lose too much more weight, but I bet you will lose inches - at least in the beginning. I would also say 1200 cals is a little too low. It's like it's the "magical" number everyone strives for but isn't very realistic.

If that's you in your profile, you're beautiful! And I know you will be beautiful at the wedding too...so don't sweat it (no pun intended.) :) Have fun!

It sounds like if you're toning up, then you might be losing weight, but you might be gaining muscle, too. Stop paying attention to the scale. Look at your body. Does it look like you want?

Pay attention more to Body Mass Index at this point, I think. I agree with the others, it's going to be harder, but you'll need to do it gradually. If you rush it, you'll just crash.

Thanks for the replies! I actually have been noticing a difference in the past couple weeks! I don't know if it's because I've been doing more cardio at the gym on my own time than I did with my trainer, so maybe the "fat" is starting to come off rather than just toning the muscles underneath? I can just be very impatient at times haha! ...Still not where I want to be, but I figure if I've been working at it this long, I can keep it up because it's becoming routine! To everyone trying to lose weight, keep up the work and it will pay off! And if you cheat, you're only cheating urself!
