Not losing weight

I'm a 22yo girl weighing 136 pounds and I'm having difficulty losing weight.

I quit drinking three weeks ago hoping to lose some weight. I used to drink around 30 beers a week.
I'm recovering from achilles tendonitis so I find it challenging to add any more exercise to my daily routine, but I've been using a diet calendar which tells me that even with minimal exercise I should be losing weight if I eat less than 1500kcal daily. I've counted calories very carefully. However I've only gained a pound. Why am I not losing weight at all? I've been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and I know losing weight will be difficult, but I'd like to see at least some results. What am I doing wrong?

I'm not an expert, but how are you doing on carbs?

You could do other exercises so that you don't have to burden your achilles.
In combination with a good diet plan.

What are you using to track your food intake?

I use an app called LoseIT! (not being over dramatic, the ! is apart of the name of the app) and its fantastic.. HOWEVER... because it is driven by the community and accepts input from users, sometimes the food is not labeled correctly on the app..

You might have something that is 200 calories, however the person who originally scanned the barcode and entered the nutritional value put it as 100 calories (or less!!)... track a few items incorrectly and you could be several hundred over your daily intake... Thats one disadvantage, another is it will train your mind to incorrectly track other food aswell.. and before you know it, everything is wrong and you are over your daily intake without even realising it.

Another idea is... just give it time.. sometimes youll weigh yourself, over and over.. day after day.. week after week... then suddenly it will strip off.

Avoid high sodium food, and yeah as 8753 said, check your carb intake.. if you arent burning extra calories with exercise due to conditions you have, maybe a readjustment in diet could be something that helps.

all the best :)

also, your weight doesnt seem to be that big (im double that ha!), how tall are you?

Hi, a lot of people struggle with this. They reach a plateau and don't lose for a week or two. It is normal on a low carb or calorie diet. Your body goes into a sort of starvation/panic mode and tries to store the tiny bit of carbs you are eating as fat. Try eating a small portion of healthy carbs for breakfast I. E oats. That should kick start your metabolism again. It worked for me. Read my thread just above yours - 'screw excessive exercise and fad diets' - for more info, I hope it helps xxx

You are not in ketosis. If you eat 1500 kcal of carbs, then your body is not functioning normally, and it is in alert state in which it tries to keep all the calories stored in fat. You need to be eating 500 kcal of fats, 500 kcal of proteins, 500 kcal of GOOD carbs (google them).
Also, at least 2 - 2,5 liters of water, 30min daily walks and the most important ingrediant: STAY CONSISTENT!. PM for help.

I agree with branson2301 totally.
If you eat good carbs (fruits as banana, apples etc. and vegetables as carrots, tomatoes etc.), then your body is not transforming the sugar you eat into fat.
I recommend powerwalk for 30-45 minutes and not eating after it 30 minutes, then your body starts to burn fat and you are losing weight.
If you eat everything in little amounts then your body is getting all the important ingredients it needs and doesn't start to strike. It keeps away "yo-yo effect."
Don't rush! Remind, that what's quickly gone is quickly back!
Drink a lot of water and sweat it out.
If you feel hungry in between your meals you can try to drink water and eat a banana or an apple or some seeds.
First of all it may be hard, but our body is geting used to it, be patient and concentrate on your aim.

What is your height?
