Not L- Glutamine, Glutamine Peptides benefits?

I have been reading about the difference between them and how L-glutamine doesn't do much to help but Glutamine Peptides help with muscle repair because they are bonded? ( please correct me if I am making any errors here...)

However, I have not heard good things here about Glutamine, I have heard some positive news elsewhere.

So what do people here think of Glutamine Peptides?

I am not one for taking supplement, but hubby and I are starting to workout harder, and I may be considering taking some protein and some Glutamine peptides to help with recovery......


We have currently (What Hubby has- some of these he's taking now):

Natures best Isopure
GB Blast Glutaime Peptides
ZMA
Syntha- 6 (he's taking this one)
Cellmass

I was considering taking the Isopure, GB Blast, and the ZMA.

Thoughts?

The "nutrition police" who oppose L-Glutamine should theoretically also oppose Glutamine Peptides. I don't check with the nutrition police and take l-glutamine either itself or as part of a protein shake. Some shakes have l-glutamine or glutamine peptides and as long as you don't pay over the top, i would say you are fine.

I would say ignore the nutrition police and actually try it and see how you feel. L-glutamine is opposed by some but its an amino acid and I feel great after sweating it out in the gym and taking it (as part of a shake). If you want to try glutamine peptides go on and try it and tell us how you feel.

I don't know about that....L-glutamine is "free-form" so is free from being bonded to other amino acids, while GLutamine peptides are not "free" and are bonded with peptides.

Wouldn't this difference *make* a difference?

But as you say, I think I may try it in a protein shake and the ZMA before bed, and see how it is :)

L-glutamine and glutamine peptides have a huge price differential so i don't bother with glutamine peptides on their own but just get L-glutamine as its usually cheap or on sale. I've seen good stuff written on glutamine peptides though and i get a protein blend with glutamine peptides as one of the ingredients rather than on its own which may be expensive.

Something I would like to try is HMB in a .
 
IMO if you're eating a balanced diet, and your protein shake doesn't suck to begin with, most people will never benefit from any added amino acids, including glutamine.

if you were a professional athlete, things would be different, because you're not a 'normal person' a that point.

I am trying to understand all the differences in these supplements. I have never used supplements, so this is all new to me. I was looking for ways to get more protein, and ways to help with recovery after working out (you know my old age and all...lol )

any suggestions?
 
My protein shake which doesn't cost a ton, actually consists of whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate, micellar casein, glutamine peptides and probiotics. So I'm actually getting glutamine peptides though I add 5 grams of L-glutamine after an intense workout.
