Weight-Loss Not enough calories ?

Weight-Loss

For awhile now, i've been eating really well. For breakfast, I have a Banana smoothie (Banana, ice, plain low fat organic yoghurt, fresh squeezed orange juice and a teaspoon of honey/maple syrup), for lunch I have a salad, and then for dinner I have either another salad, or, a veggie quesadilla. (Or, sometimes, if my husband wants, he'll make a steak for us and a side of salad.) I usually space these meals out so I'm eating around 6 times a day. If I want a snack, I have a fiberone bar and fruit, but I rarely snack.

The things is, I keep getting a feeling I'm not getting enough calories... (And most of what I eat are fruit and veggies, and they don't come with nutrition facts :(~~~)
For fat loss, I apparently need 2144 calories a day, and for extreme fast loss, I'd need 1832 . :S

Count the calories and you will have your answer.

However, if all your having is a smoothie, a couple salads, and maybe the occassional bar and fruit, you are not coming near your 1800-2100 calories per day.

Depending on what you have on your salad, how much dressing, etc.. it can really vary your caloric intake.

With a realistic amount of dressing, i'd estimate each salad to be a couple hundred calories (give or take) and the smoothie to be anywhere from 100-200 (again, depending on quantities you put in).

Just for the sake of making my guesses stick out more, let's just say each is 300 calories a day (which is a way high number). that would be 900 calories (2 salads and a smoothie).

That's 1/2 your calories needed. Bars are generally 100-150 calories, so tack on that.. and you have 1000-1050.

A few easy ways to get some more calories, but have other benefits would be for example, putting a scoop of protein powder in your smoothie. That will add roughly 100 calories and 15-20g of protein (i believe my protein value is close).

Long story short though.. I would count your calories eating what you normally eat (mark every last thing down) and see what your intake really is. Then make adjustments.

If those salads don't contain cheese and/or sausages/beef/tuna or other meats, it certainly seems like you're not getting enough calories from your diet. And MORE IMPORTANTLY way too little PROTEINS.
