Hi, I have been doing Cohans for a couple of months.

For the last month I've had trouble eating breakfast. I've never eaten it, but forced myself for the first month of Cohan's - before skipping it altogether for the last month.

I want to get into the habit of eating breakfast, but I have a couple of questions.

Is it okay to scrap the vegetable allowance from these Meal 1 options:
Cheese + Vegetable
Egg + Vegetable

I have tried eating lettuce with the egg, but it was too much. I tried cooking vegetables but tasted horrible.

Would be easier if I could just have the egg or cheese alone without vegies. Does anyone know if that would be okay? Are the Vegetable that important for the meals?

Thanks

They are that important...

What about the yogurt option?

Or try having a Meal 2 or Meal 3 in the morning?

Ouch...

Flipstar..

I am sorry to say that vegies are very important.. No scrapping allowed.... How has your consultant dealt with this problem?

We have to reteach ourselves, brake old habbits..

Az is on the right track if you cant stand the veg try the yogurt, it does take a little getting used of but with mango, kiwi fruit, honey dew or apple and cinnamon it can be very tasty..... and go down a little easier...

Can i ask, what exactly the problem is with eating veg in the morning?

Most of us have had to adapt to consistently eating breakfast.. ha ha ha.. Please dont give up, try and bribe yourself, remember to tell yourself "you wont get the results if you dont follow 100%".."No gain without pain" .."Beauty comes at a cost" and cate's Fav "Nothing tastes as good as slim feels"...

Sorry to harp and i hope you didnt feel like this was a lecture...

Good luck

Chelle

okay.

Thanks for replying.

I tried cooking vegies, what I norally have with meal 2 or meal 3. But it didnt go down well. Made me feel sick until I ate something different. I don't know why. May have been too early or scrambled eggs with it that I don't normally eat.

I'll stick to yogurt.
I found the low fat Vaalia natural yogurt tastes okay.

Flipstar- have you tried hard-boiling your egg & having it cold for breakfast with some cold tomato, a little celery perhaps, perhaps a little mayo on your crackers? Cold egg is easier to eat first thing in the morning if you have trouble eating breakfast.
I love my egg with cooked mushroom & tomato with cracked black pepper & sea salt.
Mango & yoghurt was my favourite Cohen's breakfast with a little sweetener(still is)
Your tastes will change as you go. Please eat breakfast. It's very important that you don't skip an meals, cheers, Cate

Flipstar, do you like omelets??
Try cooking some onion, mushrooms and tomato and pouring in a beaten egg!!I love it I even threw in some baby spinach the other day. But if you dont mind yoghurt stick to that!!
As for the cheese I normally have tomato, asparagus and mozarella on my crispbread grilled!Yummy!:drool5:

Thanks guys, I've got some ideas now.

Good idea cate, i'll boil an egg the night before. Also, I just realised tomatoes have to be weighed as part the veggie allowance, which will make it easier because I haven't been weighing it. I had it in my head it was an extra - I think because of the limit to 1/2 one per meal.

Thanks for the suggestions wanna.
I've never had an omelet, will try when I work up the courage, bit worried it's gonna taste like my attempt at scrambled eggs!

I like the cheese one, sounds good thanks. Hope the asparagus is nice! :O

flipstar, Grab a tablespoon, chop up some onion, measure out 2 tablespoons of onion & weigh the onion. You will then have your answer,
;) Cathy.
P.S. I was going to go do it for you but decided I didn't want to smell like an onion all day as it is Sunday & I am spending the day at home with my lovely husband, xo Cathy.

rofl I know that was a dumb question. :blush5:

I measured a couple tablespoons, think it was about 13grams.

But I am sure I read on Cohans or somewhere in a recipe that 2 tablespoons onions = approx 20gram.

I want more so was hoping that 20grams was correct. It's a bit hard to tell on the tablespoon as onion diced doesn't sit flat. Will cut it smaller next time.

thanks.

ohhh mannn that sounds delicious!...a great example of a way to incorporate vegetables into your breakfast..as i was reading this thread at first, i was like..ew veggies in the morning? but this sounds great. i bet you could turn it into an omelet with a little bit of cheese or something.

also, what is cohen? i feel stupid asking..it must be some diet obviously, but how does it work?

Hi jazzica, I just laughed as I am no longer on the Cohen's program but just finished a breakfast of egg, mushroom, home-grown zucchini & tomato lightly fried in olive oil & a little garlic salt, cracked pepper & sea salt. No toast but 2 crackers for the yolks. Heaven!! I am now drinking a pot of herbal tea. My favourite breakfast!

Check out this link which will give you some information on the program-

Cheers, Cate.

Hi :) I have one of my crisp breads crushed into my yoghurt, sounds not too good, but its like sweet/savoury and actually doesnt taste too bad. For breakfast there isnt alot of veggies, I have a beaten egg with chopped tomato and microwave it with a little salt and its yummy. Also you could curry your egg with curry and mayo and have it with tomato on your crisp bread :)
