I just found out that egg whites only have about 3.5 grams of protein, while the yoke has 2.5g. I thought all of the protein was in the white, leaving the cholestrol and fatty stuff in the yoke ! I'm losing out on valuable protein here!:eek:
 
LOL, nope! It's split almost half with the whites having a bit more. The vitamins are in the yoke as well.
 
Well the Doc tells me I have high cholestrol, so I'm trying to keep that at a minimum. A lot of my cholestrol comes from protein shakes already.
 
From science of todays times. It is speculated that Saturated fat, Trans fats, and Lack of exercise are FAR bigger contributers to High LDL Cholesterol then specifically the high cholesterol in the foods. Generally a food high in cholesterol is high in Saturated fats and possibly trans fats. Of these three possible dietary contributers, The cholesterol it self is the LEAST of your worries.

Eggs time and time again have been shown to have VERY little to NO affect whatsoever on blood cholesterol levels. If you are one of those who have a genetic discrepancy to have High LDL and or low HDL. there are FAR better things you can do through diet and exercise then cutting out the highest quality of protein next to mothers milk. Even so, With that in mind it would be wise for a person with a genetic predisposition to remain under two-three whole eggs a day in precaution. anymore and one should think about eating the whites only. At least until finally rules in the subject one way or another.

If this is true, does that mean I can have more than 3 protein shakes a day? Cause each shake is around 70 mg of cholesterol and 300 mg is the daily recommended intake.

First off, You do not want more then three protein shakes a day. Hell three is to much on its own. Generally two is the most one wants.
Whole foods is where you should be getting your protein and calories not a shake.

Why would you want three+ shakes a day?
 
Could I ask why you say 2 shakes is okay, but 3 is too many?

3+ would be to many:p. Generally speaking the more shakes you ingest the less whole foods you do. I believe, and i believe the majority of us do. That getting your calories/protein from food is far better option then drinking them through some shake.

Shakes are very quick and easy to make. Usually the foods I eat like chicken breast, turkey, etc are very dry and tasteless. I try to spice it up with some veggies with jalapeno's on the side. But this process takes quite a bit of time ! I am a very picky eater lol. But you are right, if I could consume as many shakes as I wanted, I probably wouldnt be eating right.
