A Couple weeks ago I decided to give up soda. I purchased a filtered water pitcher and a nalgene bottle. No soda seems to have helped my weight loss. so if your willing to give it up, it does help. I also noticed I feel better and less tired.

Maybe im stating the obvious. Im just surprised how much difference it made.

Yup
:iagree: - it's nice not feeling B--L--O--A--T--E--D

Nothing wrong w/ posting an "obvious" statment as such...its a nice reminder that little changes add up!

Soda was the very first thing I gave up - it's a no-brainer, really - just empty empty calories.

In the 5 months since then I have had it twice, and it tasted revolting both times. :)

I have had no problem replacing other beverages with water. Water is awesome!

I actually have to "detox" myself off of sodas. I get so bad about them it can easily hit a 2 liter a day habit and if I quit that cold no amount of water stops the headaches or lethargy. However, I'm with Cord int that once I get off them good they taste like cheetos and backside. I can't even get down a 12 oz can when I'm craving.

My family went from drinking a 2 liter a day to none at all. Its... great. We feel so much better. Food tastes better. I'm not using the bathroom as much. The first few weeks were kind of hard, but now I dont crave it. Even when we go out to eat I get water. I still drink some juice every now and then, sometimes just to change things up, but I have grown to love water.

The other plus is that our teeth will be much better off. My dentist says that he can always spot a soda drinker by looking at their teeth. lol

i quit soda 3 years ago :). but i still gained weight the following 3 years, about 50 or so pounds while attending high school. im sure this number would have been greater if soda were involved.

it has made losing weight so much easier. i still drink juice here and there but not too much. it would probably be once a week if i kept track. water is my first choice and when there is no water i go with juice.

liquid calories add up quickly and when you drink water you dont have to worry about it.

I gave up the mountain dew a year ago when I started trying to lose weight. I ran a calculation: at work, I was drinking about 6 cans a day, and 170 calories a can... thats 1020 calories a day, 7140 calories a week (~2lbs), or ~371000 calories a year (~100lbs!). And I wondered how I managed to gain so much weight so quickly...

Don't feel the need to go cold turkey right away. I switched to diet pop for a few months and was just fine - I had 2 cans a sprite zero a day for a while. Eventually I weened myself off even that, but it wasn't a sacrifice, it was just that one day I decided I didn't need my diet pop any more, and I just stopped. I think the last of my case of sprite zero is still hidden deep down in the back of the refridgerator. Although, whenever my wife and I go to the movies, we usually split a coke zero with our popcorn :lurk5:

Right now, the only 2 liquids I injest regularly are propel fitness water, and plain water. Some day i hope to ween myself off of the propel to only water, but I'm not going to force it.

I stopped drinking soda for the most part once I got serious about losing weight. The only time I regularly drink soda now is when I go out to eat at a restaurant, which is on average about once a month. When I do order it when I eat out, it isn't because I'm craving the taste. This may sound dumb, but I just can't bring myself to pay the same price for water as other beverages. I don't even like to purchase bottled water to consume at home. I prefer to drink it straight from the tap. I guess I'm just a cheapskate.

I'm not completely off the soda yet but I rarely drink it. It's getting to the point where it doesn't even taste good any more.

I drink my gallon of water each day im at work. It keeps me hydrated, and flushes me out daily. But when I get home, I usually enjoy a nice cold diet coke with supper. Its one habit I'm not sure how to kick. Water tastes great when youre thirsty, but I guess it comes down to me prefering the taste of diet coke over water.

After I found out the effects of diet soda (the chemicals) to my body I decided it was best to just drink water, which besided herbal tea is about the only other liquid I consume regularly. I do, sometimes, miss the carbonated drinks -- but much prefer the lack of bloating!

but much prefer the lack of bloating!

Oh my gosh YES! I had some coke last night and I felt like I was going to pop. Its funny that I never noticed it before when I was drinking it all the time.
