no need for the gym

i signed up for the gym but its £50 a month and a bit steep really especially if i dont have time. over the past two weeks ive started doing around 40 crunches on a night and i got some weights and have been walking alot. i thought it would make me lose weight but ive gained muscle and got smaller instead of loosing it, but its all still good.

i now kno i dont need the gym.. so anyone thats about to sign up for the gym theres no need in wasting your money. crunches really do work if u want to tone up your stomach. just thought id share lol :)

This is true, you don't NEED a gym to loose weight...you can use many household items to help you. For example substituting canned foods, water jugs and fabric softner/detergent bottles as weights.

But I HAVE to go to the gym because I need the external motivation....I need the group to keep me going. Quite frankly, sometimes I need the accountability. I do workout at home as well, but the "girls" down at Curves keep me on track. :D

Oh...almost forgot, CONGRATULATIONS on having the will power to do it at home and on the weight loss!!

thanks :) wel i really could do with the external motivation but its just too expensive, theres lots of cheaper gyms around for half the price but id rather go sumwere i like or not atall.. maybe i shudnt be so fussy lol

£50 pm is fairly steep. I pay £29 pm for my gym in Norfolk - plus includes a great family/sports swimming pool, a range of fitness classes, etc

I love going to the gym now BUT I did lose most of my weight before I joined the gym! I exercised by dog-walking, jogging, home exercises - crunches etc. So although I'm becoming addicted to gym, I agree that you don't need to join a gym to lose weight. Its another case of horses for courses...

I understand. I'm pretty lucky, I happen to love my gym (Curves)...the women are GREAT! The ladies that own it are so friendly and helpful, we have games and contests, "summer camp"...it's so much fun and the music is AWESOME. I'm really fortunate I know, a friend of mine in a neighboring city went to a Curves in her city and it wasn't fun at all.

ive just come out of college so i only work part time, once im full time again ill join back up. its only expensive coz its the best one around.. there isnt anything it doesnt have, the others are not very good
