no energy

On saturday morning I pushed the boat out and went for a 5 mile run which I compleated in 40mins. I then spent the weekend with my one of my mates and as a result had very little to eat. (he isn't a big eater and I had no money for food)

So when I went for a four mile run on monday morning I felt really tired and had to walk after 20mins (jus a 30 second pause). I thaught this was due to my poor eating over the weekend and so during the day ate alot of fruit and drank a lot of water and went to bed early (as I was strugling to stay awake by 9pm)

So you'd think that I would be full of energy today, but on a 3.5 mile run this morning my legs felt like they were made of lead, I was out of breath very quickly and no energy to tackle the hills and even ran out of steam on the flats. Even sat here typing this I feel so tired and lathargic.

I reckon its because I'm doing nothing during the day but that will soon end because tomorrow I have an induction day at work, can anyone else think why I'm running low on steam, i don't think i'm over doing my exercise I've only just gotton up to 20 miles a week over 5 days and do weights once/twice a week.

It depends on how your diet is normally but if its pretty clean this is what happened to me. I actually just had a week of what you are describing. I went on vacation and because I have been eating so clean for months I ate very little on vacation because I couldn't tolerate anything rich in taste. I also hardly ran. Instead I biked and hiked a little. When I got back (a week ago) I struggled (and still am) getting back to my fitness level (which was very high before vacation). At first I was freaking out thinking I had instantly gotten out of shape  . Now I suspect my body totally got depleted of glycogen storage (or at least got very low compared to what its used to) and I'm working on restocking it. It could be you just need some good nutrition and good sleep for a few days before you feel like you're getting back to normal. Try some light stretching and very easy runs (or walks) for a few days paired with quality whole foods and lots of water. Sleep at least 8 hrs a night trying to get to bed at a decent hour. Baby your body a bit and see what happens.
