Hey everyone, i am new here and i was wondering if anyone could give me some tips. I always find that i get hungry around 10-11pm after Ive had dinner. is it ok to snack on something light and if so what?

I recommend cottage cheese.

Well tonight I went to McDonald's and ordered the buttermilk crispy chicken sandwich and a medium fry w/ a large Coca Cola. I'm starting a detox on Ash Wednesday and I'm going to do this for 45 days
I'm not drinking pop or eating sugar and my ideal weight would be 125 and drop down to a size 4 I'm currently 166lbs and I wear a size 8.

But it's hard to stop the cycle of night eating you should eat some fruit or something else guilt free

Hello all,
Best of luck with the detox. Giving up sugar will be really hard, but being prepared for that will make each day easier to manage. It's good to be able to count down the days too as it will be less daunting with light at the end of the tunnel. I've signed up for a half marathon in March because I have a habit of delaying getting serious with long term goals.
My favourite light supper is Melba toast with a bit of salsa on, or as has been suggested cottage cheese. The tomato salsas like the ones Doritos make can be really low in calories but have good bulk to them so don't feel too much like I'm being deprived. I also like to crunch my diet food so it feels like proper eating, so Melba toast is good for that. I would also really recommend getting an air popper for popcorn and trying out different flavourings. You can buy popcorn flavourings on Amazon or make your own. A small portion of this is really low in calories. I don't know if it's particularly bad to eat popcorn before bed, but it's a filling, high fibre low calorie snack.
I am also one of those who is kept awake my hunger pangs if I don't have supper, so despite what some diet guides say I think it's better for me to have a light supper before bed. I think the most important thing is that it isn't too high in sugar (like some fruits) and really is just something light to take the edge off your hunger.

Hi all,
I feel that it's important to not eat anything high in carbohydrates and sugar late night, more something like a meat/cheese roll, that's what my husband and I will eat, but we are diabetic and if we eat that sugar then in the middle of the night we will drop and have to get up and eat something else. In the tomato area, I don't care for the salsa, but I also like eating just a small whole locally grown tomato.

I suffer from this as well, but have been really making progress in this specific area.
The answer is:
NO.
Your body is half in sleep mode and most definitely in shut down mode so to put any type of energy (healthy or otherwise) into your body is just going to get stored like a fat bear in preparation for your 7 hour hibernation.
Try not to eat after 8, let alone 10/11.
It's difficult, I know, especially if you have late nights, but you can gorge on teas, water, etc.
There are options.

Also, fruit is a TERRIBLE thing to eat before bed. Just because it's fruit it doesn't have a free pass. Fruit is water and fructose and glucose... SUGAR. To pump that into your system before sleep is counterproductive.

I struggle with this issue as well! I work until 10pm a couple of nights a week and seem to need a "snack" when I get home!

Maybe water and some almonds?
