4lbs a week for your current age and weight is a bit much- and it'd be tough to keep up with on a regular basis...
you really want to stay within 1 percent of your weight per week and make sure that you are eating enough and also exercising so as to not lose muscle mass.
I've seen larger numbers lost at the beginning of a weight loss process - but it tends to be water weight that goes first... and maintaining the 4lbs doesn't happen.
4lbs usually is from people much heavier than 214lbs. In the first month, expect to lose anywhere from 6-30lbs depending on size and adjustment to new activity levels. After that, dont expect the same.
well im sorry i forgot to mention,i was working out for 1yr i started this feb 2006 and your right guyz i did experience that and the frustrations i've gone through and im 260LBS last year.so what im gonna do is maybe lose 2-3LBS a week? and im planing to do some weight lifting is that good to lose weight?
