Niceones "responses" thread.

I would like to give this thread a big ass bump.

http://www.fitness.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15089

I've been gone only a week and since I've been back all I see is offending posts from newbies as well as existing members (you know who you are). This is not what this forum is about. This is a great community that I very much enjoy being a part of and would like for it to stay that way.

If you can't hold back your immature offending remarks, simply don't respond and wait for someone more educated and mature to respond.

I've recently read.. you need to run every day to lose fat and you should do 200 situps to get ripped abs. People who have no idea what they are talking about waste others time, energy.. and in many cases money.

I seem to remember reading that exact same response. I appreciate that people are just trying to help but, responding from a position of relative ignorance is more likely to hinder than to help.

LV as usual, telling it like it is ;)

Mind your business LV!!!! J/K, I agree, and just want to say that I recently partook in some bickering between one of these newbies, and sincerely apologize for dropping to his level. What LV is talking about here is one of the worst diseases affecting the industry right now; BAD ADVICE! Anyone can become a personal trainer nowadays without knowing a damn thing about physiology and/or biomechanics. Worst yet.....anyone can come on line and give guidance to people who are desperately looking for it, and this can lead to serious issues for these desperate people.

I am all for people giving their 2 cents on someone's question. They say there is no better knowledge then experience, so by all means, don't be afraid to post. However, if you are unsure of the answer, don't tell the poster "how it is" factually when you are way off base. Just provide your own personal experience.

Right there with ya LV.

Yeah some good points here but you must realise no matter how much you harp on it that people will still give inaccurate advice. It's just the way it is i'm afraid.

My post was meant more towards the offensive responses however I encourage everyone to post.

If I have to correct someone I try and put a smiley face on the end does that make it better?
LOL......it's not about correcting people. My post was geared towards the offending remarks that have been posted latley.

But you can always add a smiley face.......:) .

LOL.

I've been gone only a week and since I've been back all I see is straight up garbage responses and offending posts from newbies as well as existing members (you know who you are).

If you don't know how to answer a question properly or you can't hold back your immature offending remarks, simply don't respond and wait for someone more educated and mature to respond.

I'm new here. I will not be giving a whole lot of advice to you "experts"! LOL! I came here for information on anything fitness and I would love accurate and mature responses. :)
I have not posted much yet because I am busy reading around the forum. It's soooo easy though to ask a question that has already been asked, but hey guys, I'll try my best not to annoy anyone! ;)
LV, you seem to know what you're talking about. I love that! ;)
I hope to see you all around the board...I'm sure I'll be needing your advice!
BTW...I hate offensive remarks, but I like constructive critisim. So, anyone seeing that I'm going in the wrong direction with my workouts, diet, exercises, etc....Please give me info that'll make me "better myself". I've read some awesome stuff here already and look forward to learning lots more!

Oh i get you like the remarks nobody makes! They are quite funny i must say but also could be offensive.

I prefer this face :D

Please do give out advice of whatever you feel is right or whatever you have experianced. That's what this place is about.

I edited my original post as it seems like I wasn't getting my point across.

Good to have you here.

:)

I better see at least 100 posts from you by the end of the week!!!!!

:p

Glad to see this thread LV.

Another thing that is sometimes difficult to keep in mind is that no one can hear your "tone of voice" on a forum. Therefore, something that may have been meant in a playful tone can sound like a smart-a** remark, or something that may have been meant as simple advice can sound mean, or harsh, which leads to major misunderstandings and hurt feelings.

btw, LV, most of your posts I've seen are very short and to the point, but you always are so encouraging and nice. Good job.

I can see what you mean but when you start to see things like "your too old to workout", it makes you think twice about giving out useful information to ignorant people who will usually never use it.

If you take a look at my posts from the first 2-3 months that I became a member, they are much longer and detailed. Frankly, I'm quite tired of typing the same information over and over again when there is a search button at the top of the page. This is the reason my posts have been short and to the point the last couple months.
