Niacin

Hello. Well I added niacin to my vitamin intake and the first day went off without a hitch. However, the second day I had a reaction that Im not sure is related to the niacin. A few hours after taking it, my neck started to burn then my whole body got red, hot, and splotchy. Has anyone had this happen hours after taking niacin? I took as directed and the reaction lasted about half an hour. Just curious if anyone has had an experience like this before. Thanks.

totally normal, but indicates you took a little too much niacin.
its referred to as niacin flushing. your core body temp increases minutely and you of course feel hot until it subsides.

Thanks for the info! I now cut the pill in half and take the first half with breakfast and then the other half after lunch. So far, so good.

There are No-Flush Niacin supplements available, make sure you get all you Bs. B vitamins are synergistic!

Niacin works on metabolism, produces HCl, helps circulation, and as Ive learned from working in a health food store- supposedly helps you pass a drug test.

niacin is one of the b-vitamins, so you need it. i never really saw a need to take extra niacin. just get a decent multivitamin in the first place that has a good b-complex in it.
