Newly Here

Hi there I am joining this forum to help with my goals in life. I am a 27 yr old AF member who desparately needs help getting in shape. I am looking to get out of the military in a little more than 17 months and from there I will be going into Law Enforcement. See I got sloppy while I was finishing my degree. My goal is to drop about 20-40 pounds off my frame and then firm it up. I would also like to be a better runner if that is possible. Right now I am not running at all, so any advise I get on ways to start and stay motivated would really help me.

I do not know but my best guess is that my real problem is my diet. So any tips there would help to.

So I will end this with a Greetings from Tokyo and hope to get to know you all really well.

Welcome to the site.

Tokyo huh? Well, I'm thinking there shouldn't be a shortage of healthy food available to you. ;)

A good place to start is getting your diet in order. I personally like for tracking food (it's free). It will help you get an accurate idea of just what you are eating, where your strengths and weaknesses are. From there, you can have a better idea of what to change. It's a bit tedious at first, but well worth the time it takes to enter everything, and it's a snap once you're used to it.

As far as exercise, if you want to be a runner, start walking/running, as long as there are no medical conditions coming into play. Start out small, and work your way up. I highly recommend beginning strength training as well, it will help you tone up and start to lose fat (the more lean muscle mass your body has, the more calories it burns).

You can do it, you just have to commit.
