Newlywed 25 ib???!!!

Hello!
I would just like to start off by saying that I am new to this website and see such great suggestions and feedback that I thought of writing a thread myself! I got married 9 months ago and have gained exactly 25 ibs!! When I got engaged , I had a year to plan my wedding as well as lose 10 ibs, i accomplished that and looked great for the wedding. I was going to the gym 4-5 times a week and eating clean! My motivation was my wedding and dress. We had 500 guests and I wanted to look great infront of them as I was able to accomplish that!
Once the wedding came and gone, I started slowly gaining a few pounds every month and am now 25 ibs overweight!! I bought the 17 day diet book, joined the gym, hired a trainer, but everything only lasts a few days! The 17 day diet book was obviously a flop because its not about dieting to lose weight, I know I have to eat clean as well as go to the gym but for some reason I JUST CANNOT GET MYSELF TO FOLLOW THE STEPS NEEDED! One of my main concerns is that 20 ibs is a big number to lose and that just demotivates me! I try to take it 5 ibs at a time but my problem is that I want to see immediate fast results and thats not going to happen!!

I dont fit into any of my jeans or pants anymore as all the weight I gain is in my butt and thights! Im about 5 ' 5 and am 24 years old.

Any suggestions and feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm pretty sure they call that "happy weight". It's supposed to be what you gain after getting married ^_~ *wink

It sounds like you've already given yourself good advice.
  • You already know that losing 20lbs will not be immediate

The first time around it seems that you had a major motivator - your wedding day.

Maybe you just need to give yourself another one.
There are a lot of things that you could use to motivate yourself.
  1. hang an outfit in the size that you want to be in a place that you'll see it often
  2. make a virtual picture of yourself at your goal weight and use it as motivation (there are free sites for this)
  3. add money to a jar for every hour your exercise. In the end, when you reach your goal, you'll have all of that money to celebrate with
  4. (this is what I've done) make an appointment to take pictures on your goal date. This may motivate your to push on since it's important to look great in the pictures
  5. buy an item that you like every time you lose a pound.
  6. read or listen to e-books that are for self-improvement and empowerment. This can add to your strength and desire to succeed
  7. and so much more
