Hey there,
thought i would introduce myself. My names Brendan, im 20 from Australia. I stumbled across this forum and couldn't believe how supportive and helpful everyone was so i decided to join up! Anyways, a bit about my situation and goals:
I'm 6"1' and 100kg (220 pounds). I am what i would call considerably overweight. I have the big gut and (embarrasingly) large chest area (yes, man boobs!). I have a rather vague goal of reaching 85kg (187 pounds) by my 21st birthday, 4th Feb. Is this reasonable? I plan on losing the 15kg, maybe more, and then putting a bit on in muscle buildup.
I have previously dieted (same one as I have just started - 1200 calories a day) with success. I went from 113kg (249 pounds) to 89 (196 pounds), which was awesome. But a busy shedule and shear laziness saw me put half the weight back on in a year. I have learnt from this and with my current goal I have joined a gym and plan to attend well after I reach my goal.
Anyway, my above goal for my birthday isn't really about the weight figures, its more about looking better and feeling better. So any adjustments to my goal, as advised by anyone, would be fine.
I just want a waist back and to lose the chest and flab!
I know I have dribbled on but I have a couple of further questions:
-As said, I plan to lose a fair amount of weight while build some muscle. Do you recommend weight loss exercise (cardio) and muscle work at the same time, or try and lose the weight then build the muscle?
-Is 15kg in 10 weeks a reasonable goal?
-What is the best way to get rid of the excess fat from my chest? Plan old exercise? Or weight training with exercise? And if weight training, more reps with less weight or vice-versa?
Anyway, thats it for now! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Brendan.
