Hello everyone. WOW, what a great forum with tons of info. I am not familiar with forums and I apologize in advance if someone else has already asked these questions before.

I'm a 23 y/o female and have struggled with weight all of my life. I've been thin before, but, I have also been severely obese, too. I decided -after being diagnosed with PCOS in May of 2006- that I need to change my life around. I have changed the way I eat and have lost a little over 40 pounds since then. I've never really liked working out and I know that at this point in time I need to start to make a mends with it. I know its crucial that I bring my metabolism up and what better way is there to do so other than exercising? I'm still a big girl, heavier on top. I know that I need to do cardio for my metabolism, however, I was wondering if anyone out there could possibly give me some advice on what type of exercises a lazy person like me can start off with. Something that will not shrink my lower body (it's fairly smaller compared to my upper body) and some exercises that will shrink my arms, lower back, upperback and breasts. Ultimately, I would like for my metabolism to kick in and eventually I would like to get into dancing for further weight loss. But, for now I need something simple and doable for someone my size. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help!!!:) :D ;)

one other question, all of the ticker codes I tried didnt work on here. Just wondering if anyone knows why? Or perhaps someone can provide a website that has a better working weightloss tracker?

Hello LIgirl .... in the absence of any replies from more experienced ops yet - I can tell you that 'targeting' an area of the body for fat reduction is not supposed to work. Body fat (as I understand it) reduces as a whole when you consume less calories than you use. As you are aware - increasing muscle mass through exercise does increase your metabolism. We are genetically disposed to put on excess fat in different parts of our bodies - I am a 'tubby' type - I put it on my waist and chest - but my butt and legs remain skinny.

As I said, someone who can speak with more authority can help you more, but I would recommend a mixture of cardio and strength training - exercising all muscle groups, whilst maybe cutting cals. However - if you don't enjoy gym then find something that you do enjoy - dance, aerobics, walking, pilates, kick boxing, workout DVDs, running/jogging, swimming, cycling, etc etc - the World is your oyster, good luck!

Yeah, you can't target the areas where you want to lose fat. You will lose fat from everywhere overall when you keep up a cardio routine. However, most women tend to lose more weight in their upper body first.
