Newbie question - help!

Ok here we go.

I live in the Uk. I want to run the London Marathon in 2007. Im very New to running. I've started by running 4-5 miles 3 times a week. Will it be possible to run 26 miles in 1 years time if i keep increasing the distance? My heart is strong because ive been cycling 100+ miles per week for last 6 months. I dont have any medical problems.

I went to buy some new running shoes. The shoe shop assistant said i have very high arches. What does this mean for my running? When im jogging at meduim speed my heel just about touches the ground, at fast speed my heel doesnt come near ground. At slow speed my heal touches the ground but i hardly put any pressure on heel. Is this a good technique? I dont suffer with any pain. I've never run on a treadmill in my life. I guess I want running shoes for some1 with high arches and technique advice. I'm 6 foot 178l lbs.
