Sport Newbie needs nutrition advice please

Sport Fitness
Hallo guys. I have been going through some of the posts in the forum, and am getting great tips and ideas. I think this is a great forum, with loads of advice on weight loss/healthy lifestyle.
I am a 25y/o female. Am 164cm (I think 5'5), and weighing 58 kg. My aim is to loose 10lbs (around 5 kgs I think). I must say that I have a weird body structure, and I am comfortable with every part of my body, excpet for my flabby belly:p . After months of doing around 500 sit ups a week, I learnt the hard way, that I needed to loose the 'fat' covering the abs. Hence, I started running (and I now love it). I have been on and off, trying to get a flat stomach, but this time am more determined than ever, and my goal is to have that by 28th May (wedding day).
So basically, this is my plan;
I ran (on the treadmill) 4km (steady state), then HIIT for 15 minutes, giving me a total of around 6km, 3 days a week.
I have an ab roller, and plan on doing 3, 20reps (3 times a week).
Plan on doing 3, 20 reps of reverse crunces and leg raises (4times a week). Main problematic area is lower abs.

I had been doing the above for at least 2 months, and only lost 2lbs, then put it back on. So I figured my diet could be the problem. I started counting calories, aiming for 1200-1400 a day. This is my diet;

Morning, a bowl of cereal (mostly wheetabix), with nonfat milk, and splenda
Lunch (at at school canteen), but mostly, chicken, and veggies, and a scoop of mashed potatoes. Or 2 slices white bread sandwhich (chicken), with veggy soup).
Dinner, chicken breast (or kidney beans), white rice, peas, and carrots. I dont like red meat at all.
Snacks during the day, 2 apples, 2 kiwi fruits, and a nonfat yoghurt, and/or pistacchio nuts
No supplements, whatsoever.

I tried otaflakes porridge, this morning, and I didnt like the taste. If I go on with the wheatabix (2 biscuits each morning), instead of the oatmeal, will my plan be greatly affected?
Another question, I normaly stir fry (in vegetable oil) the chicken breast with veggies and mushrooms. Is this going to affect the diet? Am planning to start using olive oil instead, or oil spray.
I also plan on including some salmon in the plan.
I work in KFC, and mostly, only eat the chicken during my meal breaks. But am planning on stopping this, as I discovered it greatly interferes with the diet plan. So as not to be able to feel like eating the chicken at work (lol), I drink 2-3 cups of mocha, which makes me feel very full. Will this affect the plan?
I have a sweet tooth, and once in a while (maybe 3 times a week, ;) ), I buy 3 crunchie chocolate bars (150 calories), and I try incoporating in the daily caloric count. Is this going to affect my plan?
I need the harsh truth on the matter, coz I'd like to do it right, and for once in my life, get a flat stomach! Am tired of being the 'slim girl with a HUGE pooch' :D

Oh, and another thing, my housemate was telling me that splenda isn't very good for the health???

hey there, heres a quick summary of whats needed, im sure someone else will provide your answers, anyway:

Having 5-6 meals a day is preferential as this keeps you going for the day and teaches your body to burn fat more readily. You dont want to cosume a considerable less amount of calories from your maintanance amount as this will make your body store fat next time you consume it.

KEEP TO A MINIMUM, trans fat, saturated fats (sounds like your having tooooo much of this)

Incorporate some simple weight exercises at home if you can, muscle itself is the principle "fat burner" ! and with your run, perhaps aim to run less distance but at an intense level for most periods.

Thanks Matt. I figured out that the problem was with my diet, and yes, I do agree there's loads of fat in that. The fact that I (body) wasn't growing any 'fatter' per se, was what encouraged me with the unhealthy eating style, as I rarely added weight, but the tummy, still huge! But I plan to clean up and change to a healthier diet (and have done so at least for 2 months).
I know this will sound weird, but I usually dont have time to have 5-6 meals (coz of college then work), and hence I skipped meals before (without feeling hungry), and I discovered that was the wrong thing. That's why I have the 3 main meals, and the fruits and yoghurt as snacks in between.
Any suggestions for the home weight trainning?

Sugar and Salt

I have struggled with similar problems and found that two things really affect my midsection. The amoung of my daily calories coming from sugar (and sugar alcohols which make me bloated) and how much sodium is in my diet. Try watching these two things in addition to your calories, fat, total carbs and protein. I'll bet if you try to cut back on those things and keep working for that long, lean muscle, you'll be feeling great on your wedding day! Best wishes.

hey there, well if you have a pair of dumbells, not to mention a medecine ball, the number of exercises is unlimited :)

Any more advise? Please help......anyone?
