Thank you for allowing me to join your forum. I have enjoyed reading a lot the past couple hours. I never found an answer to my question (if I missed it, I apologize) so here it is:

I have been dieting, reading labels-watching cal's and fat intake, since last November. I've always worked out either at home or gym for the past 5 years. My problem is I can't get rid of the pooch around hip area and just above (the baby area). I looked over the website GNC but they have so many products, I could tell which is good and which to avoid.
I'm thinking maybe something to burn the fat in that area? Not a fan of liposuction so wanting to avoid that.
Would appreciate any and all help/suggestions/input.

Thank you so much.

Melanie

If there is another site I should check for products like this besides GNC, please link me. :cheers2:

There's no such thing as a magic bullet. There's no pill, mix, drink, or other product that will burn fat for you - from any part of your body.

The only thing that will remove fat from your body - anywhere on your body - is eating fewer calories than you take in.

Some women are simply genetically programmed to have that little bit of tummy pooch and the only way you can get rid of it is to drop your fat levels extremely low - which takes some pretty serious dedication and dieting.

Thank you and yes, I already knew there wasn't a magic bullet but wondered about these fat burning products at places like GNC and others.
I watch my intake like you wouldn't believe. Measure everything and work out very hard but still don't see any movement. Just wondered if some of those products might help or just hurt the pocketbook

Re

Here every one wants to be fit, to burn fat of your body its very important to keep one thing in your mind energy in and energy out. That means burn more energy than what you gain.

anything that advertises itself as a fat burner and is avail without a prescription is 100% scam.

You can also look into Lyle McDonald's Stubborn Fat Solution - I'd post a link, but I'm not sure whether or not it's appropriate. Although I swear I receive no kickbacks ;)

Here's the blurb from his site.

The problem of stubborn body fat (typically the abdominals/low back for men and hips and thighs for women) is one that lean dieters have been trying to deal with for decades. Various simple explanations (typically involving estrogen) have been offered but the results from these simple approaches have been, at best, poor. This is a place where simple is simply wrong.

As it turns out, stubborn fat is stubborn for a number of inter-related physiological reasons, all of which conspire to make its elimination difficult (and for some, seemingly impossible). The Stubborn Fat Solution is the first book to scientifically examine the causes of stubborn body fat in extreme detail. From receptor type and number, blood flow, the propensity to both store and release fat, the physiology of stubborn fat is dissected in detail. The role of hormones and diet is also discussed.

Of course, all of the physiological verbiage is useless without solutions and The Stubborn Fat Solution provides those as well. The book describes four specific protocols aimed at optimally mobilizing and burning off stubborn fat.

While the protocols are primarily training based, the impact of diet on stubborn fat loss is also discussed and information on how best to incorporate the four protocols into your current training and diet program are examined. And while none are required, several beneficial supplements are also discussed.

Please note: Like The Ultimate Diet 2.0, The Stubborn Fat Solution is aimed at lean dieters trying to achieve extreme levels of leanness. Until men are 10-12% body fat and females are ~15-17% body fat, the information in this book is not necessary (although it will still be informative).
