I have never been in a forum for weight loss and I have lost weight before. I hope I can get some help but first let me tell my story....

I'm 42 5' and currently 133lbs. Last year I made a resolution to loose weight. And I did! I was 165 lbs and a size 12-13ish. I counted calories (under 1600) did Zumba 3 times a week and got as close to 10000 steps a day as I could. After I learned how to eat I stopped counting. By June I got to 125 lbs. I got into a size 3 to 5, sometimes a 1! I slacked off on Zumba a bit relaxed my eating and maintained it the rest of the year! How proud I was. Yea I could loose more. I was going to pick up again this year. But the. I added another resolution!!!! To stop smoking!!!!! I have been smoke free for 30 days now. Watching my eating again back at Zumba 3 times a week and tracking my steps. I feel great! Sounds great right????

Not really! My pants are getting tighter my scale has crept up 6 lbs. It may seem like nothing but I really busted my rear and now it's going down the tubes.

I'm in a quit smoking forum and they all say.... Your body is healing. Your metabolism is slowing down. Give it time. The more I am doing for my body the worse I get. My skin isn't that great, my digestive system is out of whack. What the heck?? I need some help. I have never been a excercing guru. I did all that to loose my weight before. Now my body says nooo way.
So, I have resorted to asking for advice and help. Maybe someone has been in my shoes.

Thanks in advance.

Connie welcome, As a personal trainer from NYC and doing a lot id research, one thing is certain. As we age our metabolisms slow down drastically. Tony horton founder of p90x is 57 years old and looks like he's thirty because he exercises 7 times a week. If you want to lose more weight you need to consider doing some home workouts using your body weight. Zumba is fun and cool but so is HIIT or just regular strength training.
Try to add two more days of working out so 5/7.

Try doing 4 sets of each exercise with 10 reps
Burpee's
Push ups
Russian Twist
Squats
Then jumping jacks

Rest 1 minute between sets.

Try it out. Let me know.

Thanks I will add this to my off days. How about diet? Should I try a low carb approach? If so, how? I am a great calorie counter but I don't know much about a low carb. Back in the day I did a no carb but that was easy! Low now that's another story. Lol

low carb can actually lead to you feeling weak and without energy, carbs are turned to glycogen within the body and that is what fuels our brain and muscles.
Instead do 50% protein , 30% carbs, 20%fat . So 50% of your calories should be from protein, 30% from carbs and 20% from fat.

What app do you use for calorie counting and whats your process exactly? Im interested in know Connie.

Hello,
Don't stress too much over it either. Stress releases cortisol, which can send your body into storage mode. We don't want that. Just keep at it, you did it once and you CAN do it again. Welcome to the forum.
