Weight-Loss

Greetings,

Hi. I am trying to lose weight to get back in the Army and in order to do that I have to weigh in at 205 lbs or pass the tape test (BMI at least 24%). In September, I went to the doctor and I weighed in at a whopping 280 lbs. Here I am now and I am at 247 lbs. I am 6 ft 1 in. The thing is, I don't know if I am eating enough or how to tell. I don't count calories, I just sort of make my meals and go one with my day. I exercise 5-6 a week, so I know that has much to do with the loss. Anyhow, I was wondering if any of you would be able to help me out if I list what I eat. Here is what I eat everyday:

Breakfast:
3 egg white omelet w/spinach, cucumber and 4oz of chicken

Snack:
1 apple or a head of raw broccoli

Lunch:
Salad w/raw spinach, romaine lettuce, cucumbers, black olives and 4oz of chicken. Dressing is a drizzle of olive oil & red wine vinegar. The size of the salad fits into one of those Deli Select containers that lunch meat comes in, if you know what I am talking about.

Snack:
Same as lunch

Dinner:
6oz chicken, 1-2 services of broccoli/cauliflower and a serving of brown rice

I drink almost a gallon of water throughout the day. The thing is, I do not feel hungry at all during the day, so I assume that I am eating enough.

I just don't know if that is enough. I suppose that I should start counting calories, but hopefully I can find some help here.

After I got out of the military, and got married, I really let myself go. I am looking for a lifestyle change because I don't want to get like that again. Thank you in advance for any and all help/advice that is given. I truly appreciate your time.

Sincerely,
johnnyo

Sign up. It's free. Plug in the foods you just wrote down. Presto, you have everything you wanted to know about your diet.

Easy as apple pie.

I calculate you out to around the 1400-1500 calorie range depending on serving sizes and accuracy. A bit low if you ask me. But it may be just right for you if you are dropping the fat and don't feel like your not getting enough. I would say you have lost around 2-3lbs a week and for your weight I would say that is spot on. If you feel good and continue to drop the weight stick with it! Good Luck!

Thank you very much for your informative response. I thought it was a bit low, too, but I don't feel hungry throughout the day and I eat 5-6 times a day, I weigh out my protein and measure the brown rice, so I would say the serving size I posted is accurate. Other than that, I just eat the rest in raw veggies, fruits and green leafy things, mostly spinach and romaine. I am just concerned about doing the right, healthy way and making sure that I eat enough calories. I heard that it can be counterproductive if you do not eat the proper amount of calories. I just figure that if I am not hungry, well then that is a good thing:).

Thanks again for your response!
