Hi Everyone, I am trying to talk to anyone about Cohen's - I am starting the program and would like to receive support and give support to others as well.

Hey, Charlene, welcome. That's what we're all here for! There are many great topics here-- add to them or create your own. The diaries are great, too. I think you **might** get more response if you include more details about yourself or ask specific questions.

I'm a newbie here, but I'm loving this so far! Best "lifestyle" I ever tried. This is the one that will work... I'm leaving no room for failure!

Good luck to you!

Welcome to the forum Charlene. Starting this program has been one of the best decisions of my life & I'm 53!
I started in the forum with the thread that came up first called"Sticky: Cohens Lifestyle Support- New" started by lessfatty. I started on the first page & read a few pages plus the last page & every day I did this until I had read the lot!! I didn't start a diary until I had been on the program for 9 wks. It's a really good idea though right from the start. I just didn't have any idea that so many people would want to read how I am going. The level of support has been wonderful! :D
All the best with the program. I have not deviated once & no longer have any emotional or physical cravings & I feel great almost all of the time. Share some of yourself with us- your feelings, doubts, problems. I find that I am so excited about the program that I want to share it. I have never been a diary writer & I share things in here that I don't tell even my close friends.
Feel free to ask any question you like. I have asked some that I thought were pretty silly  & have received all of my answers in the nicest way. I have not encountered any negativity towards me & I feel that this forum is my main support system.
In my diary I put my fears, my day-to day battles, my progress etc. I rabbit on really!
I ask most questions in the main thread rather than my diary.
Once again again a very warm, big welcome to you. You will probably spend hours wandering around all the various threads. I used to go in here when I was hungry to fill in the time until I was allowed to eat!
There is so much info- you won't be able to read it all. Cheers, Cate!:D

Welcome Charlene.

I know you will enjoy your journey. I have. Like others I find it the best thing I have ever done. As you can see I am almost at the end of my journey. I am starting refeed on Saturday and that is another daunting step.

As others have said, visit the forum regularly. I visit a lot but don't always post. I just find it great to read others. It helps when I am feeling down or agitated.

Also don't forget to visit the Cohen's website and get all the great recipes to help you along the way. There are some great recipes here as well. There is a thread for recipes, read it.

Anyway, enjoy and be brave. It is a hard but extremely rewarding journey.

Skinny hugs

new too!

hey everyone-
It is great to know that there are others out there that are on the cohens as well.
I am living in NZ and started the program in australia so i am having a bit of trouble finding support too so thankyou for starting the thread.
i have been on the program for 12 weeks now and have lost to date- 24.5 kilos. which is awesome. I have however only lost 4.5 kilos this month- which is really getting to me today. i have deen following the program one hundred percent- the only thing that i can think of is that i may need to change what i have been eating as i usually just eat the same things. Have you experienced this? any other ideas?
Please dont get me wrong i think that cohens is amazing- it is working brilliantly and i am very happy - i would just like to kick start the weightloss again as i still have another20 kilos to loose.

Hi Jodidean! Have you thought of starting a diary? Your comments may get missed otherwise.

I've been on the program twice - the first time in 2005. In 2005 I scrupulously followed every rule and never deviated. I lost a total of 35kg.

My experience is that the weight loss generally slows down for lots of reasons. Firstly, the most obvious reason is that it takes more calories to keep the metabolic functions of a large body going than those a smaller body. Thus, the more body weight you lose, the less calories you need in any case. However, don't change the amount you eat - just do what they say, and it'll all pan out in the end.

Also, your body gets used to dealing with the lower amount of food, and becomes heaps more efficient.

Just keep it up, accept that the loss rate will probably end up being a curve rather than a straight line, and take a lot more notice of the measurements than the weight.

Some people report finding that changing the kind of protein they eat makes a difference. Those that eat a lot of seafood say they find the best losses on seafood, so maybe try that. Also, some people say that the cheese meals don't result in as good a weight loss.

Apart from that, just keep going and enjoy the new you, the new clothes, and let the weight worry about itself. You'll be healthier, happier, more fit and have lots of compliments, so just enjoy!
