Hello all! I'll get right to it! So far i have lost 90 or so lbs. But....i have some stubborn fat left to shift, not much but i wanna lose it before i hit UNI.

I lost the 90lbs by doing weights (still do) and cycling (off road) but i think my body have grown used to this workout so here is my new one, please tell me if it will be effective at fat burning.

Treadmill - sprint for a quarter mile (10mph), then power walk for a quater mile.....(continue this for a full 30 mins)

Repeat this workout again in the evening before my last meal of the day.

Do this for 5 days a week with 1 or 2 days left aside for rest.

Will this burn fat?

Much love Xx

It sounds like a very good workout, I personally love interval training which is what you're describing on the treadmill. But burning fat all comes down to the amount of calories that you take in or burn in a day. You can run your ass off for 10 hours a day, but if you're taking in more calories than you're burning you're not going to lose any weight...period. Find out what your maintenance caloric needs are, you can find this by googling BMR calculator, once you have that number, which is what your body needs to maintain istelf at it's current weight, aim for 500-600 less than that number, whether you do that through dieting or excersizing is up to you...but basically, we can't tell you how effective that workout is going to be for you without knowing what you're putting into your body in a given day, calorie wise. Hope this helps.

Nice answer m8! ta for that. I have been doing this already so i guess its going right so far :)

I'm 21 years old and about 6'1 - 6'2 tall and i weigh about 12 stone (bit under). It says i need 1800 to 1900 cals a day so i'll take that into account and work on cutting out some more, see what happens.

Much love all :)

Will this burn fat? No. Not really. You are walking. and only for 30 minutes after a quick sprint. Break out of your rut by doing miles baby. Aim for 4 miles minimum wlk/crawl/jog/or drag yourself through it. If your not starting there you're not even in the ballgame.

You are doing fine. Watch your calorie intake as well and you will make progress.

You don't have to kill yourself to lose weight. It actually is brain over brawn

I disagree with thebeast. has been shown to foster fat burning. In any case, as long as you at moving your bum and taking in fewer cals than you are putting out, you will lose fat! But interval training has been talked about as "speeding up" the process, or being the most time efficient way to do it.

Good luck and WOW! 90lbs!! You are awesome!

Youre way wrong! Any type of physical movement will burn calories and fat. There are ways to do it intensely, and moderately. I for one, interval train on my treadmill everyday, 7 days a week. I change my treadmill workout everyday. I keep my inclines between 4% and 10%, and my speed no lower than 3.5mph (except on warm up 3.0), and my incline no lower than 3.5% (thats at a 2 min warm up only). I will warm up at 3.5% incline and 3.0mph. After that, I go straight to 3.5mph and 8% incline for 2 minutes, then back down to 4% incline for 2 minutes. I keep going up and down, and sometimes up, up, then down. I keep it difficult and that makes my pulse race and I breathe heavily.....thats the key, but dont go overboard. Keep it at your max, not to the point of getting dizzy and extreme exhaustion in a short period. Keep it comfortable and to your ability. Ive lost over 18 lbs in 2 months by doing this and eating right. It is very time efficient and a very fast way to burn fat. And yes, I have lost a lot of fat doing it!

Walking at least 20 minutes a day at a decent pace WILL burn fat! It is proven! I know its true, and so do experts. I know people who were obese, and I advised them to change their diet (I gave them a list of what to eat and what not to eat) and walk 20 minutes or more a day...20 minimum, and they all lost signifigant weight in 6 months. So dont say walking wont burn fat. Learn your facts before discoraging someone who is desparate and or really wants advice on how to lose weight and or fat.

I am doing something similar on the tread mill but I am not doing it quite as fast yet. I do an hour a day 5/6 days a week and I've seen results already(with eating healthy too of course)

start off 3mph 3% incline. I do leave it at 3mph for the whole workout, but i start at 3. go to 5, go to 3, go to 6, go to 4, go to 7 etc. average works out to 5% incline, and each week I plan to do a little bit more and more.

I worry mostly about my heart rate getting to high so I haven't been pushing myself as much as I might be able to. If my heart rate goes over 150 I slow down for 2/3 min then keep on truckin.
