New, with a question

Hello,

Brand new to the group and happy to be here. Little background, I'm 6ft 3 inches and weighed 512. I travel alot and live out of hotel rooms 325 days a year. Two weeks ago I found a company who delivers paleo meals. I do 7 days a week 3 meals a day. 1st week I dropped 15 lbs......this past week only 1 lb. The only difference between the two weeks is that fri, sat and sun I ate really bad...i caught myself ..righted the ship and followed the plan mon-thur...did my weekend kill my whole week? Or is it a combo of dropping 15 so fast and eating bad for three days? If I follow my 3 meal plan I take in roughly 1800 cal a day....

Welcome to the forum. Well done for making healthy changes to your lifestyle.
You have done really well by getting back on track after a bit of a splurge... We all do those - but it is all too easy to say "that was the end of that diet" and go back to having a splurge that lasts all year round......

As for your loss in the second week, its a bit of both things you suggest...

It is very normal for people to lose a bit extra in the first week they start watching what they eat and try to be healthy.

Also - your calories for the week would be brought up by the bad days and it would mean that you wouldn't have had if you'd been good for those days too...

The fact that you travel so much does bring extra hurdles - travelling can mean that you are away from your home support network... It is extra good that you've found the forum - because you've found weight loss friends that you can reach wherever you are...

You do not mention exercise... That can really help weight loss a lot... I suggest that you consider walking... It can be done at your own pace and really is effective... It helped me a lot when I did my big project.

If the hotels where you stay have a gym - there will be weight exercises that you could do too.

Thanks so much for taking time to answer. I am adding 3-4 days of stationary bike this week....min of 20 min sessions....due to knee pain it hurts to walk at my current weight...man it was discouraging weighing in and only loosing 1lb

Are you drinking plenty water... It may be that some of your naughty food was salty... Salty food makes us retain water which makes the scales go higher... Drinking plenty water paradoxically makes us stop retaining water so the scales go down from any water retention high...

It might be that you lost fat but hid it with retained water...

Not like I should. I was completely addicted to soda..i got off it buy buying a carbonator...i carbonate water and add mio...i will definitely up my water intake...and the foods I ate were loaded with salt

It doesn't work for everyone - but every day...

It worked for me in my big project...

If I don't I can hide from the scales and it can take me months to get back on... I can gain an awful lot once I start splurging...

If you weigh daily you have to understand that it isn't always going to be a nice situation where it goes down - but you get an understanding of why it goes up when it does...

I lost 168 pounds on my big project...
I found that if I saw my weight go down I was extra motivated for the rest of the day...
If I saw my weight go up and I knew there was a good reason for it (eg knew that I had eaten salty food, eaten a big meal and toilet activity was needed etc) I didn't feel too bad...
If I knew I'd eaten badly and saw a bit of a gain - it was quite nice to see it go down the next day...

It worked for me so - now I've gained some of my dropped weight - I've started doing it again...

You should definitely have hope... All I can say is - keep your eye on the ball once you get to goal...
Take a natural emotional eater and give her stress and a knee injury and you'll get a weight gain if you aren't careful...

Now you know why I'm back at the forum...

As for age - I'm 57 now - did my big project 10 years ago aged 47.
Be wiser than me and do it at 42 :)

I'm on it...however stress is a big part of my life ..may need therapy to help too
