well i'm 19 years old, soon turning 20. Well to start i'm in college, so that doesn't help me trying to loose weight at all, because of the really bad food. But when we got back from christmas break, my roommate was on a diet because something in her clicked that she needed to lose weight. I was so proud of her for doing it because then she would be happier about her self. But the more i watched her eat better, the more i relized i ate like crap. So i think that is when it hit me that i really need to lose weight and that might help me feel better about myself as well.

But that's why i started.

I'm not doing any "fad diet" i'm doing it on my own, that way it's not a diet it is a life style change. I go to the gym everyday except thursday. I don't go on thursday because i have class and work all day so when i finally get back to my room i'm just so tired i can't do anything, so i take that as a me day. At the gym i do the eliptical for twenty minutes and the treadmill anywhere from twenty minutes to sixty minutes, it all varies to the time i have, and i also do arm, leg and ab training. I'm doing my best and that's all i can do.

History: I have always been the larger person out of my friends, all through High school i was always the largest one, i hang with skinny people for the most part, that was mostly based on the fact that they were my friends i made through Field hockey. I played sports through my whole life too, in high school i played field hockey and track. I played Field hockey all four years and i was good at it, i played my first year in College but i hated the coach and i just couldn't keep going the way i was going because it made me very upset all the time. I played track in high school too, but that was my goof off sport so i didn't take it that serious, but i did like it. THEN i came to college, and i ate like crap and i didn't exercise...hense weight gain...

But right now i eat about 1,000 calories a day and i exercise about 600 calories off at the gym...until i am at my goal weight and which then i will raise my calories. Here are my stats and goals:

SW: 217
CW: 208
GW: 140

Goals:
Feb. 28: 200
March 31: 190
April 30: 180
May 31: 170
June 30: 160
July 31: 150
August 10: 140

That will consist of loosing 2 lbs a week, in August that might not happen but i just want that wight by the end of the month, if i make it by then i would be so happy and will treat myself to a full body massage!!

you go girl

Hi, My name is Monica I also Just started a weight loss program(second day) and i feel optimistic .To tell you the truth it's partialy because of thet forum it's so good to know that there is always someone on your side and is going to help you , and is like you or been like you. Good I'm happy for you see ya later;)

sounds like you're very motivated!! i would just say to be careful not to work out TOO TOO hard....if you want to make a lifestyle change you need to make sure you're doing something you can eventually maintain. and maybe it would be a good idea not to set your goals TOO far ahead?? i'm just speaking from experience here, but if you don't meet a goal you've set for yourself to meet two months down the road, that might be very discouraging...or maybe just modify your goals as you go??

anyway welcome and good luck!!! :)

sounds like a great plan! welcome and keep coming back! You are going to do just fine with this! Ten pounds a month are very good goals to get to. Its about what I can lose safely.

youll be there before you know it!

welcome!

sounds like you're really motivated with this. i agree, it's a good idea, your 10 pounds a month loss, but maybe just set a monthly or weekly target - some months you may lose more, and some months may come to more or less a standstill, even if you're eating great and working out loads. don't forget that lots of exercise can convert fat to muscle - so you may not lose weight on the scales, but you'll feel the results in yourself and through any looseness of clothes.

welcome and good luck, hope you stick around! i'm also in college(uni) (and also nearly 20), and know how hard it is when you're surrounded by all the food.....all bad food....!
