Hi everyone,
I found the forum thru google and figured it would be nice to have a place to go for information and encouragement.
I figured it would be easier for me to start and finish my weight loss journey with others.
My name is Brian, I live in California, Im 6'0 and weight 287lbs.
My goal is to someday be under 200lbs.

Hi Brian! I'm new to this forum, too and I also live in California. Whoo HOO! I don't quite know what my weight loss/fitness journey will entail, but I'm hoping to learn a lot and get support. I'm glad to see you here!!

You got any ideas for what you plan to do to begin your fitness journey?! The only plan I have, thus far, is to increase my exercise a bit in March and start juicing. I'm looking forward to it!

I predict by the end of this year, you're going to be quite close to realizing your goal! You've made the choice so you want to do it, now it's time to put the work in and follow through. I believe in you and so do the others here. I'm at around the same weight so I can relate. But we will get through by pushing through. Let's get it. Welcome.

Thanks for checking in

My plan so far is to start eating healthier and to start exercising again.

Right now I eat fast food for most if not all of my meals everyday.
I dont watch what I put in my body now.
I plan on doing meal prep every Sunday and Wednesday.
Marinaded Chicken, Fish, Broccoli, Carrots, Zucchini and Brown Rice.
I cant believe its not butter spray and some salt.
I'm a very picky eater and dont like much.

As for exercise I dont do much right now.
I walk a little here and there but thats about it.
I used to lift weights and run four days a week.
Also Played softball five nights a week and flag football on Sundays.
But was in a car accident and crushed my knee and had to have it surgically repaired a few years ago.
My plan for exercise is to start slow.
I will walk 15-20 minutes a day for the first week maybe two depending on how my knee reacts.
after that I plan on adding 10-15 minutes to the walk again depending on how my knee reacts
Really just add time and speed to my walk/jog/run all depending on how my knee holds up.
I also plan on lifting weights.
Again starting low weigh and moving up.
Its been a few years sense I have lifted anything.

Great plan! One of the things I've learned works for me - just like you said - is to start slow! As much as I do not advocate fast food (NOooOOOoo!), I'd encourage you to be okay with eating meals at home a couple of times a week, but still allowing yourself fast food and snacks in a thoughtful way. If you go to hard and fast, you may become overwhelmed or crazy, huh?

As for the exercise, that sounds great! It seemed like you used to be super active, so starting slow and moving up is the way to go. You clearly know *how* to be fit, which is plus for sure! Keep us posted!!
