Hello

I'm new here. I'm wanting some tips for shedding those few extra pounds.

First, let me explain a few things about myself. I'm a male college student. I don't have time to monitor everything I eat, and I sometimes find myself eating out because of timing issues; although, I do try to eat healthily.

I've been exercising and (what I'll call) "casually" dieting for about one year as of now. I used to be significantly overweight (270 lbs), but now I weigh about 195-200 lbs, and I am 6'3". I'm glad I've had some success in not only losing weight but maintaining my weight; however, I would like to lose more weight.

I would like to weigh around 180 lbs, but ever since getting down to about 200 lbs, my old formula for losing weight hasn't been enough. I haven't gained any weight. I'm just not losing it anymore. All I do for exercise is 30 minutes on the treadmill each day. I walk for half of the time and jog for the other half, which comes out to about 2.5 miles of walking/jogging per day.

I could probably exercise more if needed, but altering my diet would be harder for me to do. I still live at home, so my mom buys and makes most of the food, and like I said, sometimes I just have to eat out, or I wouldn't be able to eat at all.

Please, give some advise if possible.

Thanks

Well, sounds like you've ended up at the point where you're burning the same # of calories you're eating...

Your main choices are 1) eat less 2) exercise more, or more intensely.

Eat less is probably safer if you can do it, because sometimes the body will compensate for exercise by doing less the rest of the day. You could pick two days a week where you just cut back - try to make sure you get enough protein, but just eat less of everything else. It's hard to make more detailed suggestions without knowing what your diet actually looks like.

You may try logging your food at a site like fitday.com to see if there's anywhere you can cut back or at least make sure you're getting enough nutrition.
