New to Site! Protein Shake and Vitamin Help!!!

Ok So I am lost. I have been trying really hard to lose some real weight and get healthy in general. I have a good diet (and my goal calorie wise has been 1260). But It is not coming off. I talked to a friend who is a trainer, who recommended a protein shake supplement (to cook with as well as drink in shake form). She has been helpful sort of.

I went to GNC where the guy recommended the GNC Amp Probiotic Extreme 60 and a Vitamin Pack (the Womens Active).

Now reading on various websites, I think I got ripped off... Is there is difference in taking vitamins that I can buy at walmart/target? Is the protein powder worth it? It seemed really expensive compared to anything else.

Someone help. Is this stuff really going to help me?

You did get ripped off. That protein supplement has whey in it, which is good, but also a bunch of other useless stuff like extra glutamine, and L-carnitine. (Supplement companies will just throw everything they can think of in one jar, name it their new "Y-complex", and overcharge you for it.) Just plain, pure whey or whey-isolate is really all you need. All the brands are the same.

As for multivitamins, you need nothing fancy there either. Your body can only absorb a fraction of the vitamins from a supplement anyway, so there's no point in turning towards the more complex stuff. Yes, Walmart vitamins will work just as well for you. However, if you can get all your vitamins from whole foods, you don't even need to take a supplement.

So by that logic I could get the same thing from Walmart as far as the protein shake goes?

And as for the vitamins, I am getting freaked just reading reviews of the stuff because people have some crazy reactions. (seriously seizures and migraines?) I might just go with Walmart Vitamins,

Thanks so much.
