Hi everyone!

This is the first forum I have joined so its all new to me! I am a 30 year old woman who is strugling with about 10-15 llbs. To give a brief history--at the age of 25 I weighed 240 lbs and in approx 1.5 years I went down to 150. I stayed there until recently when I have started to gain again ( getting married and quitting smoking will pack the pounds on huh?) Because I was heavy all my life I am somewhat obsessed with my weight, and I am sure I will never be thin enough but now I just want to be fit.
I am 5'6 and weigh roughly 160. I started South Beach diet 6 days ago and it is tough, I am scared I wont be able to stick with it. So I guess I joined for support as well as to give others encouragement.
Thanks.

Hello missRN, welcome to the forum.

Congratulations on your decision to start with your weight-loss program. I wish yo uthe best of luck with the south beach diet. I read the program and it does sound tough to me, but only for the first step and if I remember correctly, then you are already half way there.

Good Luck and keep us posted:)

Hello, i would like to know how to edit my profile to show where i am from? this weight loss forum is very interesting and what do i type in to return to the forum?

HI Paula,

you can edit your profile in the User Control Panel (User CP)
Just click on the link.

not sure if u mean to return to the forum from the control panel or from some other site, so i'll cover both.
1) return to forum: click on the the banner/logo at the top
2) from another site: wl-forum.com is the easiest to type (of course bookmarking is still the best option)

hi Miss rn,
I am in phase 2 of south beach diet, and believe me it does get easier!! The first two weeks were tough, but worth it i lost 12 pounds! I started phase 2 last tuesday
the weight loss is slower but you get to add back fruits and some low gi carbs!
Once you get through phase one your cravings for carbs are mostly gone, i even turned down birthday cake and ice cream!
Good luck

That is wonderful, it is true getting the sugar out your diet is so important. Water. water and more water is the way to continue weight loss.

is that the main thing in south beach? no sugar? I didn't know that. To me it seems that they eliminate a lot more than just sugar.

actually the point of South Beach (or the point I get from it!) is to eliminate "bad" fats sugars/carbs. Only for the first two weeks is the south beach limiting. After that (the phase I am in now) you reintroduce things to your diet like fruit and whole grains. It is excellent for people who have trouble seperating healthy foods from simple non complex foods. Because of my education and backround I am very clear on what is considered "healthy" foods, that is not why I started South Beach. It was more for a structured diet to follow ( I have very little self disipline to follow a general all around "healthy" diet, I need specifics, tell me what to eat, when, and how much and I will do it.) In my opinion, South beach is not perfect it has its good and bad points but it beats Atkins and Zone and all the othe diets that want you to purchase supplements, bars and all the other merchandise. With south beach you buy the book and your done, except for a trip to the grocery store.
