Hello! I am new to the forum and am happy to have found this thank you! I am mid 40s and have lost 7 pounds and currently sitting at 154 pounds. My goal is pre baby weight of 135 pounds. I cut carbs except for fruit and veg and use Lifesum to count my calories. I carefully stay in the 1000 to 1300 range per day and lost the 7 pounds in the first 2 weeks of my diet. Now the scale wont budge and I'm completely flummoxed as to why. Its been 7 weeks so 5 weeks of nothing. I am so disheartened and dont know what to do. I think going to the gym more will help but dont have the time to commit to 3 or 4 days a week as I have a young child. I walk everywhere and do situps daily and HIT excersizes at home twice a week. Why if I'm eating such restricted calories and following faithfully is this happening? Does anyone else have this problem? I'm desperate to break through this plateau and dont know how. Thank you so much for any help.

Without more information it is hard to get a clear picture of what is going on

however most of that first 7 lb loss would have been mostly water weight, the first effect of cutting carbs is that the body no long retains as much water. Also as my Doctor pointed out recently, hormones can take up to 2 years to return to normal after giving birth, and those hormones can mess our bodies up in all sorts of ways, even if we are doing everything right. (My youngest is almost 8 months old)

Hey Shelley, You should consider going to the gym once 1 week. It looks like your body is comfortable with the way you are eating, meaning ur metabolism is holding you back for now. you should get out of the comfort zone and do at least 1-hour work-out each week to get your metabolism going and getting you back to 135 pounds. :) GL

I agree with Jessica! I've had that happen, where my body got used to a routine so I had to change it up. Just keep looking into switching things up and maybe different meal plans? Maybe you just haven't hit that sweet spot yet! Keep up the hard work :)

I have 3 kids, am a single mom without kids' dad ever giving me a break and I work fulltime. I understand why a gym is not an option. Even if I good afford a membership I don't have anyone to watch my kids. I love bike rides but I've gone on only two bikerides his year because with a 2-year-old its just impossible to go.

I have embraced youtube as my gym. I bought a yoga mat and every night after the kids are in bed and when I've finished the household chores, I'll do about 30 minutes of intense cardio/weightbearing exercises. Youtube is a vast treasure trove of exercise videos. The best for me are Xhit videos and Lucy Wyndam-Read 7-minute workout videos. I've had some success. I would have even more success though if I did them regularly. Sometimes I'm so tired by the end of the day I just go to bed rather than exercise. I wish I had more minutes in the day. I also know lack of sleep is hindering my weightloss.
