Hello everyone! First time poster and first time for fitness.
I really hope to learn a lot here. First off I'm 33yo, I quit smoking 8 years ago, I quit drinking 8 months ago and I'm drug free. I have no idea what my body fat is but I'm over weight for sure.
I've been getting into health and fitness these past 3 months.
It all started when I hit 215 lbs. (I'm 5'9 and my normal weight is 165lbs. I COMPLETELY changed the way I eat and what I eat. I have now lost 30lbs in 3 months from just eating correctly. (185lbs) went from a size 36 to less than 34. None of my pants fit me any longer and I had to buy a new belt just to hold them up.
I also started lifting weights about every 2 to 3 days depending on how my body feels. (Been doing this for about a month now). Mainly I have been working my Bi's, Tri's, stomach, chest, and fore- arms.
(Not a complete workout by any means but I have really started to strengthen up, finding muscles I forgot I had.)
I decided I need to join a gym to get access to all the machines I don't have, and also to get the cardio I have been lacking.
My goal is to discover a good well rounded full body workout routine. My over all goal for my body is to drop more weight, strenghten and tone my muscles. I DON'T want to bulk up or get big.
I'm willing to go to the gym 4-5 days a week or even 3 days a week depending on whats best. I plan to ride the bikes for cardio. Last night was my first day in the gym and I rode 10 miles in 50 minutes. (not sure how good that is.) The resistance level ranges from 1 to 20 and I rode the 10 miles on level 8 and level 10 back and forth.
I'm willing to read any books if you guys can recommend any, (though I do not want to read a bunch of them considering my time is limited.) I'm so new to working out that I really have almost no idea what I should be doing and thats why I decided to join this forum and read a book or two. My diet seems to be working well for me but I think I need to educate myself on nutrition a bit more.
The main help I'm looking for is the routine to work to. I walked into the gym and I was lost. I don't want to pay for a trainer so I have to learn everything on my own. With any luck you guys will be a great help to me. Thanks for reading and any comments are of course welcome.
