Sport New to diets

Sport Fitness
Hello!
I'm 17, 5'7, 155lb (Perfect at my height) never been overweight. I've never been on a diet, or have worked out. (Except for PE)
I like to stick with nutrition somewhat, as I try to stick with eating some from at least each part of the food pyramid and varying my food. I eat ALOT, and I eat alot of junk food too, doesn't stop me, I never gain weight.

Well I'm begining to workout and I learned recently that bad food = bad body. Not having a diet plan with my workout could injure the effectiveness of my workout.
My workout is basically a whole body build up, abs, back, thighs, arms, etc.
Now please explain this to me as if I were 10, because I know nothing about diets.

What would be a good diet plan for me? Along with my workout?

Posting your current food plan and workout in detail would help to us forumites answer your question. Welcome.

Here's a tip on knowing what you can eat and what you can't. It's a fairly good principle from the book, "New Rules of Lifting," which I suggest you purchase.

Here's how you know if a food is good for you. Try to think of the food in it's natural, pre-processed state. If you can imagine if running, growing, or flowing in the wild, it is most likely good for you. For example, a piece of fish, you can imagine it swimming in the water, so it's good for you. Imagine a piece of doughnuts, can you see it running, growing, or otherwise sitting in the wild? No, so it isn't good for you.

However, don't worry if you eat junk food some of the time. According to the, "Navy SEAL's Guide to Fitness and Nutrition," eating fast food can be considered good if you a) limit it to 3-5 days, and b) determine if you are getting nutrition from the basic food group. For example, a chicken sandwich on wheat bread from your favorite restaurant. It may contain a lot of junk in it; however, you at least got basic nutrition from it. Again, it is only allowed some of the times, and not every day of the week. It is recommended not to eat fast food at all. However, due to the nature of our world, fast food (i.e. food that you eat outside of home) is a must for some people.

As for fluid consumption, verify that you are drinking only water. Diet soda is ok to drink if you are not a heavy drinker of the substance. However, it is recommended only to drink water at all times throughout the day.

Also, you can read the faqs in this section to give you an idea on what to eat.
