New starter - Help Needed in time for Holiday!

Hey guys,

First post here, so please be gentle! ;)

I'm a 24 year old male, who considers himself to be very skinny. I'm 5' 10", and weigh around 10 stone wet through. Basically, I've got a lads holiday booked in 4 months time, and I really want to beef up to avoid any embarrasment. My aim to put on at least a stone in body weight in time for the departure.

I'm signing up for a gym with my brother and a couple of mates in a week or so, but I've come here for some general tips, as I've very little idea on how to go about this. I've bought some protien shake to supplement my diet. I don't particularly have a strong appetite, and find it hard to gain weight at the best of times. I suppose my weight training routine can be sorted when I get to the gym. I plan on asking one of the fitness trainers there to help me work out that side of it.

I know I'm perhaps asking a lot, but what sort of diet should I be looking at? I understand the body mass has to be there in order for me to gain muscle. To be honest, I'm not expecting to look like Arnie after four months, but at the moment I daren't even take my top off in the summer.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Luke

You're going to want a full body workout 3 x a week, get all the big lifts in.

You are also going to have to eat a lot more, and eat clean too. Although you must be really slim, you may be able to stray a bit more than some other people, but keep it clean as possible.

May even want to be waking up during the night/early morning to feed if you find it particularly difficult to put on weight. You need good nutrition and plenty of rest in between workouts.

10 stone for 5'10" seems really light to me, i'm 5'6 and weight 11 stone at the moment. You should be able to put on a few lbs a week with the right diet. Obviously some of that will be fat but sounds like a little fat wouldn't hurt ya! lol.

Check out Chad Waterburys Harbinger Hypertrophy workout, you will find it in a Google search, posted on the T-Nation website. It's a good read even if you don't follow the workout exactly as Chad lays it out.

Good luck!

Dont worry you wont look like Arnie after 4 years nevermind 4 months lol.

You have to eat more to gain, its that simple...look at the stickies and check the nutrition section. ;)
