Hi All

My name is Noel and I am 60 years of age. About 3 weeks ago I weighed myself and I was 120kg. I was 106 kg prior but even that was too much. So I went on a diet, stopped 99% of sugar, meals half the size, muesli for brekky, have tomato on cruskits for lunch and no biscuits / lollies etc. I will add I no longer consume alcohol, gave that away about 4 years ago. I also should add my wife is overseeing my diet as I have little idea of what I am doing. Well after 2 weeks I weighed myself ( which was the Thursday just gone ) and I was down to 115 kgs. I am wrapt. Just wanted to know about the fruit thing and how much of that can I consume. Would it be right to have watermelon / rockmelon daily. As it is I eat 2 apples / pears daily. It is my intention to get down to 100 kgs at this point. I am 184 cm tall, about 6 foot 2 inches. I retired 5 years ago and my weight while I was working was always around 95 kgs. Nice to meet you all and thanks for any help I may receive.

You can pretty much eat fruit all you want. Watermelon is 95% water. Most of fruit is mostly water, vitamins and fiber. Fruit and vegetables should be the least of your worries. The best stuff to cut out of your diet are simple carbohydrates, like white bread, or bread in general. If you're eating rice, try put less rice in your meal and add more meat and vegetables. However, completely cutting out carbs is not recommended, because why? You can enjoy rice, pasta, potatoes, or whatever it is that you enjoy, you just need to lower the 'dosage' if you will and you'll be healthy, happy and lose weight.
