Hi GetInShape,
I'm fairly new on the forum too. I'll give you my opinion in general terms and we'll see if it kicks off some opinions for you. Nutrition is by far the most important factor when it comes to shifting fat. You'll find out very quickly that there are many types of diet to lose lose weight but if you want to do something sustainable then I'd suggest starting out with habits you think you can build into your life long term because at some point your going to be at your ideal weight and it would be much easier to switch into a 'maintenance' mode when you've already got the right habits in place. I'm not sure whether your following a plan or anything but understanding nutrition is the key rather than following a meal plan, you need to be able to make good choices not see how well you can follow a recipe or meal plan for long term success. Its also a mind set to get into, think of this as switching your eating habits to just getting in good nutrition as opposed to going on a diet. So far as exercise is concerned (depending on any health or other issues you may have that prevent you doing something) I tend to think a combination of High intensity Interval training (HIIT) and strength training is a great place to start. And finally be honest with yourself. If going to a gym is not going to work for you long term then find something you can do at home and build into your life. Whatever you choose (so long as its healthy) there are only 2 factors that count; consistency and time, the fat loss will take care of itself. There you go, some fairly general (if not slightly obvious advice!) and if you need specifics I'm sure there will be lots opinions waiting... Good luck buddy!
